Great color. The nose is very nice with dark aromas, full, round, and inviting. Dried plum and then a fruity note on top. On the palate, clearly stronger notes of licorice, spiciness, some wood, and again dark dried fruits. The finish has a slight bitter licorice note, but not disturbing. Overall, a very nice bottling for fans of dark aromatics – as expected. Totally my taste.

The Ed. 39 from the Rumclub, a 2006 REV (RX16863), is already a very successful bottling, but RX16863 is no match for the Rumclub's new stroke of genius, especially on the palate. It is rounder, more complex, deeper, fuller-bodied, stronger, more palatable, sweeter, oilier. And I'm not saying that because I live in Berlin and am therefore close to the source. See for yourself. This is supposed to be a 2008 Diamond? It really seems to me that the barrel was mixed up and a REV was sent to Spirit of Rum instead of the Diamond. And not a 2006 REV, but actually a 1994. Can that really be the case? I hope there will soon be a comment function here, then I could read your direct reactions. For me, this is a hot contender for rum of the year without hesitation. Drink it and you'll agree with me. If it is a Diamond after all, which I hope will be verified by tasting experts, it seems to me to be most similar to the MDXC profile from 2004 (RX7442). Or perhaps the 96 (RX10043, RX10046)? 🤔 I'll stick with REV 1994 for now. 😉 Exciting!

Tasted at the Franconian Tasting Gang Rum Grillen event. A nice bottling for me, but nothing more really. Nothing that I really need right now. On the advanced evening/night I tried it with Jarek as a mixer in the CubaLibre, in my opinion it's not really suitable for that either.

On the nose and palate a nice MDS cask indeed. A bit ahead of the Perola/Bellamy‘s. The finish is very much on the woody and bitter side, however, which costs some points. Very solid dark Guyana column rum.

Sehr schöne rotbraune Farbe im Glas!. Die Nase ist schwer und gehaltvoll, viel Dörrpflaume/Pflaumenmus als auch Röstaromen, gebrannter Zucker und Fass. Die Aromen sind kräftig und auch der Alkohol ist mit leichtem Stechen zu bemerken. Mit der Zeit kommen weitere Aromen dazu. Am Gaumen sehr übereinstimmend zur Nase, schöne Sauerkirschnote! Der Alkohol mischt wieder im Vordergrund mit. Der lange Nachklang geht erwartungsgemäß leicht ins bittere aber keinesfalls unangenehm. Eine sehr gute Abfüllung, die von ihrem Charakter prima in die Weihnachtszeit passt. Mir gefällt vor allem wie konsequent der Rum während der gesamten Verkostung bleibt. Für eine Bewertung von 90+ fehlt mir der gewisse Grad an "Smoothness". Trotzdem eine Kaufempfehlung.

Another super successful bottling, I am a big Guyana fan and I find these intense dark dried fruits that come through both on the nose and on the palate excellent, the wood and the pleasant sweetness of burnt sugar round off this rum. The alcohol is well integrated and it is really easy to drink. A few minutes in the glass won't do it any harm. I can't say for sure whether this is a REV or a Diamaond, but it definitely meets my taste.

So, endlich auch im Glas.. Danke Alex! Die Nase gefällt mir am Besten..diese Mischung aus roter Frucht und malziger Schokolade hat was! Den Gaumen empfinde ich auch recht ausgewogen, wobei hier die Früchte zugunsten der Würze und Holz in den Hintergrund treten. Hier hätte ich mir mehr ein Wechselspiel zwischen beiden Aromen gewünscht. Im Abgang fehlt mir etwas die Tiefe, passt aber noch. Insgesamt ein sehr guter MDS, der für mich aber nicht ganz vorne mitspielt

Fruity, yellow fruit, sour apple, peach and overripe pineapple. Cedar wood and freshness. The palate is lively, with fruit, lots of fruit, appearing right away, followed by cedar wood (cigar box). A fine bitterness dominates the finish. A rather dark rum, even the fruit seems dark.

First of all, I tried this rum in the rum depot in front of the GRF. A very tasty, more complex Guyana with all its edges, which knows exactly how to please. It‘s way better than the Perola one, but not as the last years bottling.

You get exactly what you expect here. Raisins, prunes, sour cherries, dark chocolate, wood, some herbs in the finish and very malty. Simply delicious. The rum certainly has similarities with a REV.

Eine gelungene Abfüllung, die in sich stimmig und harmonisch wirkt. Der Holzeinfluss ist deutlich präsent, wird jedoch von facettenreichen und spannenden Guyana-Noten angenehm begleitet. Lässt man ihn ausreichend lange atmen, entfaltet er sein volles Potenzial und gewinnt zusätzlich an Ausgewogenheit. Dies bestätigt auch die Zeit in der die Flasche offen ist. Mit Wasser: mehr Melasse im Vordergrund. Tolles Preis/Genussverhältnis. Ein Rum der Tagesform abhängig sehr gefällt.

Has a great Black Forest kirsch note on the nose with dark chocolate and cherries with raisins, burnt sugar and malt. On the palate not quite the fruitiness that the nose promises and a little woody. Nevertheless, good rum for the money.

Reminds me on the nose of the Nobilis SV (Rx20892), which I had in my glass at the same time. Heavy and oily in the mouth, feels good on the tongue. Light fruity notes, caramel, malt and lots of woody, spicy aromas. I quite like it overall, but it doesn't stand out from the crowd. Edit: I liked it a little better at the 2nd tasting. Alcohol is really very well integrated!

8,4:On the nose, at first, no sign of a rum, just woody and vegetal notes, feels like a very thick drink, molasses is herbal, dark, liqueurish, the wood intensely roasted, charred with caramelized, burnt sugar, nutty, syrupy...We could think, that we scent Ricola or Jägermeister with leathery tones. After airing, it opens up with citrus, dried fruits like prunes,raisins,some spice, later on with yellow fruits, coffee and crème brûlée.Better... 8,2:On the palate, the attack is intense, sweet and syrupy with notes of charred wood like caramelized burnt sugar, crème brûlée, coffee, nuts, as the molasses is dark and thick with a licorice, black tea and herbal notes, again we might think of a Jägermeister or Ricola...as it becomes resinous, perhaps we notice some juniper(?), as it is also a bit waxy, bitter.There are dried fruits and, thank god, after some rest red fruits, sour cherry, as it becomes tasty.... 8,2:The finish is long, at first with similar profile as the palate, but then it shows us different face with some industrial notes.. Some Spanish style meets Guyana...Ricola, Jägermeiter fesst.😆...just my humble opinion.

Aroma on the nose. Spicy, fruity, woody, slightly sweet. The taste is full of slightly burnt wood, we have some sour cherry and the plum also shines through. The 63.6% are certainly noticeable, but are somewhat lost in the relatively drinkable whole. This rum is very pleasing, especially if you consider the key data, you get a lot for your money.

Once again, a very good hand was shown in the choice of cask. This is a Guyana rum to my taste. Dark aromas characterized by molasses, liquorice and chocolate are complemented by fine dried fruits. The aftertaste could be a little less herbal for my taste, then I would be in spirit heaven. Compared to its sister cask (RX16020), this rum is not quite as molasses-like, dark and burnt, but there is more fruit to be found. For me, both bottlings are on a par, although I like the Edition No. 46 a little better.

I'm still not quite sure what to make of this bottling... Very tasty on the nose, dried fruit, burnt sugar, sweet, heavy, malty. Reminds me a little of the dark Belgian beers I like so much. It continues like this on the palate, with woody and burnt notes. Licorice, dark chocolate, black tea. Long, woody finish, with mocha and a slight mint note. A very tasty profile in itself. Nevertheless, the rum is a little too sweet and too woody on the palate for my taste. Hence a slight deduction in the overall score.

Eine heiß ersehnte Abfüllung für mich. Viel wurde geschrieben und gelobt, Vergleiche zum legendären REV-Mark gezogen. Tatsächlich kann ich diese Assoziationen durchaus nachvollziehen, würde ihnen aber gleichzeitig widersprechen! Der Rum lockt sofort holzig-süß in der Nase, mit Aromen von Malz, Schokolade und Trockenfrüchten, die wir insbesondere am REV so lieben. Neben einer pflanzlichen Note (Eukalypthus?) fängt mich vor allem eine süßliche Komponente ein, bei der es mir schwer fällt, sie genauer zu fassen. Am Gaumen dann eindeutig: Hier haben wir keinen REV. Auch hier finde ich zwar Anklänge von Trockenfrüchten, für mich überwiegen jedoch andere Aromen. Malz, Lakritz und Rauch, eine ölige Minzigkeit mit einer Spur Menthol, aber dann auch wieder gebrannter Zucker und Melasse. Dunkle, verbrannte und auch holzige Bitteraromen halten sich zwar die Wagschale mit süßen Komponenten, wodurch die erwähnten Assoziationen zum REV aufkommen können, insgesamt ist mir das aber doch zu weit weg. Eindimensionaler als die großen Abfüllungen und für meinen Geschmack auch zu bitter, ist dieser 2008er MDS zwar eine gute, aber keine Klasse Abfüllung. Dafür ist mir der Bittereindruck zu dominant (hier denke ich eher an KFM), die Trockenfrüchte, die Minze oder andere Kräuter zu zurückhaltend und selbst die durchaus spannende Süße überzeugt mich nicht vollends. Insgesamt trotzdem eine schöne Abfüllung, die man durchaus mal im Glas haben kann. Trotz der Einschränkungen und „Negativitäten“ für sich betrachtet eine leckere, für sich genommene auch spannende Abfüllung, die für mich gut ins Profil der Demerara-Rums passt

Insanely beautiful and inviting nose of prunes, cumquat jam, dark chocolate and treacle. The taste is a good bit more bitter and tart than expected. Liquorice, roasted malt, dark molasses and strong black tea tones together with a slight sour cherry, plum note and subtle mint in the finish. Definitely too bitter and roasty for me personally, almost burnt... all a matter of taste but not my thing, just like its predecessor.

I first came across this rum in a rumshop in Berlin, tasted it and was so impressed that I took a bottle home. The intense nose, the thick to oily flavour and the absence of the almost ubiquitous Guyanese apples make for a perfect combination of an enjoyable rum where the price/performance ratio is very good.

Tasting im Zug zwischen Prag und Hamburg, ich hab ja Zeit 😏 Nase: sehr würzig, röstig und dabei malzig schokoladig sowie fruchtig. Getrocknete Pflaumen und Datteln treffen auf schwarze Johannisbeere, Stachelbeere und Sauerkirsche. Dunkles, süßes Karamell mit ordentlich Lakritze kommen da auch noch hinzu. Nicht unerwartet ist da eine angenehme rauchige, fast verbrannte Note die gut zum Tabak und Holzeinfluss passt. Rund, lecker, gefällt. 8,7 Gaumen: auch hier setzt sich der würzig, röstig-schokoladig Eindruck fort. Kräftig ist er, mit einem malzig-süßen und salzig-muskatigen Antritt, Pekannuss und Tonkabohne, das getrocknete Dattel. Tabak und Lakritze sind sich dabei. Eigentlich gehst wie erwartet, hohe Qualität und echt lecker. Gutes PLV. 8,7

Wieder eine super gelungene Abfüllung, Guyana steht bei mir hoch im kurs und diese intensiven dunklen getrockneten Früchte die sowohl an der Nase und auch am Gaumen durchkommen hervorragend, das Holz und die angenehme süße von gebranntem Zucker Runden diesen Rum ab. Der Alkohol ist top eingebunden. Und sehr angenehmer Abgang. Für mich schmeckt er wie ein REV, wirklich top. Danke fürs Sample G.

Nach 30 Minuten im Glas riecht das ganze Zimmer nach Röstaromen, Trockenfrüchten und Lakritze. Im Gaumen kommt die Lakritze nochmal stärker zur Geltung neben den typischen Aromen von dunkler Schokolade, Trockenfrüchten, Holz und gebranntem Zucker. Im Abgang sehr holzlastig und leider etwas bitter. Trotzdem ein Klasse Tropfen!

I would say the aroma is similar to FS production. Hints of cinnamon and caramel with dried fruit and chocolate. Quite a lot of sweetness, dried fruit, caramel and quite a lot of tannin. Finishes maybe slightly minty or something similar, wood, molasses and dark chocolate.

The nose is very sweet ... Quite interesting and intense. Some kind of red fruit. On the palate it has something raisiny and licoricey. Liquorice is not necessarily my thing. Good rum. A matter of taste, they say. Corrected enormously upwards in the night tasting.

This rum took quite some time to open up, atleast over an hour, maybe even two hours. On the nose: Burnt sugar, woody notes and some dark chocolate as the main notes. On the background there is some dried fruits, malt notes and maybe some leather. Taste: Intensity at first but alcoholintegration is on quite good level. burnt sugar, malt, woody notes and dark chocolate as main notes. Mouthfeel is slightly oily and charred. In the background there is dried fruit notes and in the end you get some black tea notes. Finish: Woody notes, roasted. Minty/tea notes. Some dark chocolate notes at the end. Dry and slightly bitter. Takes a lot of time to open up and maybe the finish could be a bit better for my liking, but it really gets better when you just let it sit in the glass for two hours, from sweet burnt sugarnotes to rich dark chocolate notes.

In der Nase erst schwere Süße von Rosinen, die sehr Portwein erinnern, dazu leicht phenolische Anklänge. Interessanter Mix! Auf der Zunge kommt eine geballte Keule von Holzeinfluss, kräftige Eiche. Dazu leicht angebrannter Karamell, brauner Zucker mit den bitteren Noten leicht über den Punkt zu sein. Im Abgang kommen viele Kräuter, dunkle Schokolade und eine Idee Dörrobst. Nach 2-3min kommt langsam noch eine leicht Minznote - was ein wenig an After Eight erinnert in Kombination mit der Schokolade. Schöner, kantige Rum mit sehr viel Volumen und Körper, die knapp 64% ABV sind darüber hinaus toll eingebunden

Je länger desto besser :-) Solider Guyana aus dem Haus Spirit of Rum. Kein outstanding Rum aber durchaus lecker, wenn man ihm 30 Minuten Zeit gibt. Die trockenfrüchte, das Holz und eine gewisse Würzigkeit habe ich auf der Zunge. Netter Sipper für zwischendurch, mehr aber auch nicht.

Erster Eindruck: lang gelagerter KFM für Arme. Wir sind hier unverkennbar in Guayana. Bitter, dunkel, Leder und Holz. Und bitter. Stark adstringierend, man kann auf dem Rum rumkauen. Muss man mögen, finde hier at man gerade noch die Kurve bekommen. An die Komplexität eines 30 jährigen KFM kommt er natürlich nicht ran, für einen vergleichsweise schlanken Taler macht man hier aber nichts falsch, insbesondere wenn man sich langsam an die älteren Bretter herantasten will.

Relativ schwer, dunkel und weihnachtlich. Muss man drauf stehen. Der Alkohol ist super eingebunden. Mit Wasser wird er noch einen Tick schokoladiger, insbesondere im Abgang und ganz leicht pfeffrig, was aber nicht schlimm ist.

Intensiver Geruch von Ahornsirup, Rosinen und etwas pungy Frucht (inspiriert von anderen Verkostungen vielleicht Sauerkirsche?). In der Nase finde ich ihn sehr angenehm aber wenig komplex. Das macht er aber am Gaumen wieder mehr als wett. Da passiert einiges und ich bekomme zumindest bei der ersten Verkostung nicht alles zu fassen. Im Abgang dann etwas zu viel geröstetes Holz für meinen Geschmack aber insgesamt super Teil!

Ich stimme mit meinem Vorredner „Bauerngaumen“ aka Gunnar Böhme - der als erstes hier bewertet hat - nicht ganz überein. Meiner Meinung nach ist das definitiv kein vertauschtes REV Fass. Weder aus 2006 noch aus 1994. Ich stimme aber in dem Punkt mit ihm überein, dass es sich um einen sehr sehr leckeren (Diamond) Tropfen handelt. Macht schon Spaß den zu genießen.

Palate: The echoes from the nose continue here, whereby the alcohol is very well integrated, as in the nose. The rum is very round and balanced. Finish: sweet, chocolaty and a pleasant bitterness remains at the end. Conclusion: very tasty and palatable rum. Absolutely recommended.

Orné d’une superbe robe rubis, c’est un Diamond riche et gourmand à souhait qui se dévoile. Le nez est très concentré, très dark sur le côté Demerara avec le chocolat, le cuir, le tabac, les notes rôties (notamment boisées) et les épices d’hiver. On a également ce côté doux avec la mélasse, le cola, le caramel cuit et le sucre brulé. De l’autre côté, les fruits sont très lourds, notamment sur la datte et le raisin secs, puis la cerise amère qui viennent apporter de la rondeur dans ce mix aromatique. Le profil est assez complexe malgré tout, c’est très plaisant à sentir. La bouche est intense, dense et pourtant très gouleyante. Le thé noir donne ce petit cachet un poil plus âpre au palais. Les saveurs sucrées évoquées au nez donnent de la suavité, tandis que les fruits secs (datte, raisin) et noirs (baies, cerise) apportent un peu d’amplitude. Les arômes sombres, voir brûlés, soutenus par la torréfaction, le malt, le cuir, le chocolat noir, la réglisse et les épices d’hiver, dominent les débats. C’est ce dont on peut attendre d’un Demerara, à la fois doux et caractériel, avec un alcool très bien intégré qui plus est. La finale par contre nous laisse sur notre faim, avec un peu moins d’arômes et d’intensité qu’escompté. Elle est plus sèche, amère, herbacée, sombre, rôtie et épicée, sans forcément briller. Bien meilleur que le premier Diamond embouteillé par la maison, ce Diamond est charmant, structuré et a du répondant, et cerise sur le gâteau, est tout aussi agréable au niveau du prix.

A very good and subtle Guyana very similar to REV but I detect something else there a little more cask and less fruity. If I had to compare it to Rumclub 39- 2006 it has a slightly longer finish and a nicer flavour in terms of fruitiness but still an amazing selection from Rumclub(Spirit of Rum)

Er braucht definitiv Zeit im Glas, mindestens eine halbe Stunde. Dann entfaltet er sich und die Schärfe nimmt ab. In der Nase sind dunkle röstige Töne, rote Früchte, Sauerkirsche, gebrannter Zucker wahrnehmbar. Am Gaumen kommen noch malzig, holzige Noten hinzu. Ebenfalls Lakritz und Tee. Die Tannine vom Fass arbeiten hier gut und schieben gut an. Der Abgang ist trocken , holzig, gepaart mit Trockenfrüchten und Piment. Die Süße und der gebrannte Zucker sind in jeder Facette wahrnehmbar, was mir nicht so gut gefällt. Alles in allem, ein guter Rum. Mir persönlich harmonieren die einzelnen Marker leider nicht so sehr zusammen. Bischen zu eindimensional (Column Still Destillation).
