People who like their aged rum dry, woody and a bit challenging will find plenty here. Grapefruit and caramel lead the nose, backed by chocolate, raisins and a floral, varnish-tinged edge. The palate turns roasty and peppery with that signature Grays mint, then a long dry finish with roasted nuts and coffee. A few tasters find the tannins and a slight bitterness get in the way.

Un rhum goûté au Lucerne Rum and Gin Festival en 2024 et avec des amis. Un nez vif avec des agrumes (pamplemousse) et du caramel sur le devant de la scène. Derrière, du boisé frais, des herbes, des fleurs, une légère encaustique et du bois verni. La bouche est un peu serrée au début, mais tout s’ouvre avec de très beaux arômes complexes. Une bouche très fraîche avec du pamplemousse, des herbes et des fleurs. L’alcool et le bois jouent parfaitement leur partition avec en finale des côtés parfum oriental et pâtisseries. Un rhum sur la fraîcheur, les fruits, les herbes et les fleurs, complexe et addictif. Un très beau single cask. Mais il faut le boire rapidement, après ouverture et avec de l’oxydation, ses beaux arômes disparaissent assez vite.

Lecker. Bei den diversen Savoir Faire Abfüllungen hatte ich bisher noch keinen Reinfall, und so ist es auch hier. Ich würde diese Abfüllung als ziemlich typisch bezeichnen, ohne besonderen Ausschlag nach unten oder oben. Ein sehr leckerer Tropfen mit dem typischen Grays Aromaprofil. Kann man ohne Bedenken kaufen, an die tollen Abfüllungen für LMDW (insbesondere die 2010er) kommt diese Abfüllung aber nicht heran, erstere sind einfach nochmal intensiver und komplexer.

Un rhum qui a bien plus à offrir qu’il ne laisse présager. Le nez présente un bouquet aromatique assez complet avec des notes de caramel assez marquées et qui se mêlent à des arômes floraux agréables, à des fruits (fruits secs, agrumes), à un boisé vernis et à des épices douces qui tirent vers la gourmandise du chocolat et de la noisette. C’est très bien fait et aguichant. En bouche, le triptyque fruité - floral - épicé fonctionne bien : les notes de pêche, de raisin sec et d’agrumes, la touche de menthol et l’assaisonnement de poivre et de piment donnent un ensemble élégant et assez riche. Le boisé un peu rôti et le caramel cuit complètent ce tableau coloré et vivant. L’alcool est bien intégré. La finale présente une belle longueur avec un bel équilibre des saveurs : tantôt chaud sur le piment, le chocolat noir et les notes rôties, tantôt frais sur les notes végétales et les agrumes, ce rhum sait éveiller les sens sur plusieurs registres aromatiques. Un rhum qui est selon moi un peu sous-estimé par rapport à ce qu’il propose réellement.

Schöner harmonischer Grays aus Mauritius, allerdings im Vergleich zum New Grove Emotions etwas schwächer, obwohl mehr Prozente vorhanden sind. Das merkt man direkt an der Nase, die etwas zurückhaltender ist. Ansonsten sehr röstig, pflanzlich, zitrusfruchtig, schokoladig bitter.

n der Nase die typischen Grays DNA mit Aprikose/Pfirsich, Karamell, Vanille, würzigen Aromen und etwas Holz und florale Noten. Am Gaumen ziemlich rund und süffig, aber insgesamt etwas dünn/verwässert. Guter easy sipper.

Rötliches Mahagoni Geruch: Süß nach Rum Trauben Nuss Schokolade. Fruchtig und schokoladig nach Rosinen und Karamell. Geschmack: Im Mund schwach süß und würzig alkoholisch mit Karamell. Beim Schlucken sehr würzig. Pflanzlich, pfefferig und holzig. Nur noch leicht fruchtig nach Rosinen. Abgang: Lang Sehr würzig und holzig. Altes Fass. Trocken und leicht bitter. Fazit: Ist mir etwas zu trocken und holzig.

Bisschen bitter im Abgang

Startet mit einem schönen umfangreichen Aroma, lässt aber nach längerer Verweilzeit im Glas nach. Der Alkohol ist an sich gut eingebunden im Abgang aber dann doch etwas scharf und spitz. Aromatisch sehe ich es wie die anderen Bewertungen.

Heute Abend habe ich den 3. New Grove aus dem "Bauerngaumen-Set". Nochmal ein dickes Dankeschön dafür, Gunnar.🫶 Leider ist das für mich die schwächste Abfüllung aus dem Set. In der Nase anfangs chemische Lacknoten und alkoholisch, was aber nicht harmonisch mit den anderen fruchtigen oder Karamellnoten erscheint. Am Gaumen Holz, Traube, leichte Minze, würzig-pfeffrig und ein wenig süß. Leider weiterhin etwas alkoholisch, was sich selbst nach 30 Minuten im Glas nicht verändert hat. Im Nachklang dann das für mich wirklich enttäuschende. Hier kommt er stark bitter daher, was absolut nicht mein Ding ist.

Puh... Also die Nase ist nicht sonderlich einladend. Auch nach einiger Zeit atmen lassen will diese doch sehr chemische Lack Note sich nicht verziehen. Dahinter noch verwirrender Nuss Nougat (Nutella), schwarzer Pfeffer und Rosinen. Geschmacklich dann relativ alkoholisch obwohl er nur 50% hat (spricht für mich für eine misslungene Verdünnung...) und wirkt einfach insgesamt nicht sonderlich rund. Auch hier kommt diese Lack chemie Note wieder relativ penetrant mit durch und stört mich massivst. Sorry aber der ist für mich durchgefallen. Kann man schon trinken aber trifft einfach nicht meinen Geschmack zu was ich an Mauritius Rums mag. Hier scheint mir einiges schief gelaufen zu sein.
