MHOBA French Cask Rum 2023

Well-liked here, with tasters landing somewhere between "young and wild" and pleasantly calmed-down. One member pins it as a cross between Hampden ester fire and Haitian agricole — fresh cane, citrus, a green vegetal streak and ripe fruit, then spice and light wood on the palate. At 65% the alcohol reads well integrated, and nuts creep into the long finish.

#4914 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Intense, fresh, light vegetal, light citrus, ester, light cherry, light caramel, spice, fruity, overripe, polish. Palate Intense, warm, spicy, light wood, ester, fruity, overripe, light orange, faint chocolate, faint caramel, light berries. Finish Long and warm, fruity, ester, light wood, light caramel, light berries, faint coffee, faint nutts. Also a pretty good release and a show of what a cask can to to a rum.

Tasted originally at WLP '24 , but recently with friends. Allowed it to rest and breathe more time. Nose is citrus, vegetal, spicy and fruity. Palate has esters, fruits and spices. In the finish nuts also emerge like peanut.

First time i try Mhoba. I really like this, it's young and wild. The nose is like a combination of a Hampden rum fire and a Haiti agricole. Tastes like young Hampden. The 65% alcohol is well integrated. I want more Mhoba!
