Chairman‘s Reserve Master’s Selection (Royal Mile Whiskies) 2006
Here's the surprise: this smells like fruit and toffee but tastes gloriously dirty — rubber, glue, burnt wood and "the good stuff," as one taster put it. A 2006 St. Lucia pot still at 56%, it explodes on the palate with dried fruit, caramel and a salty, medicinal edge. Several call it a fresher, fruitier alternative to Jamaican funk. A splash of water tames the heat.

Wow, this is a really super rum and definitely a rum well worth the money. Probably my favourite tasting of 2019. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

on the nose first very inviting with raspberry, cinnamon, tangerine, raisin, toffee and dark chocolate..taste then rather not my case with a rather salty, reminiscent of plastic and rubber note, plus date, vanilla and rather bitter and dirty and after burnt wood acting. in the finish rather astringent and tannin-heavy in addition to plastic and the salt note that I otherwise like but here rather disturbing... pity.

Now that's a fine drop! Round and deep, without fault or blame. Many thanks, FischeJ, for the sample!

Delicious and in the usual high Master's Reserve quality. Fruity on the nose with dried fruit, fruit, caramel and a little glue. On the palate there is also something medinine and charred. But not as dirty as other representatives of the series.

A very elegant soft dark Chairman's. I really like it. It lingers for a long time, especially in the finish. At the very end, there's a taste of a pickled plum in the rum 😋

A really really good St. Lucia.

Inspired by Mariano56, I tried the RX208 and RX20200 against each other again today. The typical St. Lucia markers are recognizable on both, but they are still different. In a direct comparison, I liked the RX208 better, the RX20200 is more of a daily sipper for in between.

In direct comparison with the Evanius Harris, much sweeter and more accessible and less dirty/roasty notes on the nose. Surprisingly dry on the palate, with lots of leather, tobacco, wood and roasted notes. The finish is very long. ABV perfectly integrated.

Really hard to describe, in the nose it starts off with a firework (sulfur and glue) exploding into spices and dried fruits. On the palate it is more one the dried fruits-side and the sulfur is barely noticeable. A subtle sweetness, vanilla and some wood are a great addition. With a few drops of water it gets tamed a bit, which I prefer.

I'm smell unfortunately a little forward. The taste is almost all cask and overall it makes a good impression and the alcohol is well integrated. However, I personally miss the distillate flavor here

Another excellent St. Lucia!

The nose is still the best thing about this rum, as it is very fruity (apple!) and is harmoniously complemented by barrel notes, chocolate and caramel. Unfortunately, the mouth and finish are not my cup of tea, as there are lots of smoky and roasted aromas. However, these are accompanied by a heavy and fruity sweetness, which creates an acceptable balance for me.

For me, a superbly integrated alcohol content with a very nice interplay between fruitiness and toasty oak flavors are always a very good prerequisite for relaxed drinking pleasure without the risk of boredom. Another very good, complex rum from the St. Lucia Master's Selection.

On the nose, a fruity fresh resinousness mixed with iodine and a touch of citrus peel.On the palate, a fresh fruitiness with citrus impact. Immediately, however, comes something pleasantly dirty, artificial, like slightly burnt plastic. I like that. Out the back again nice fruity sweet.Very nice, multilayered rum.

Beautiful St. Lucia. The nose is reminiscent of those old blanks for the pop gun, with tobacco and leather. Then dried fruit. Very nice. Dry, astringent and full in the mouth. Dried fruit, but discreet. Leather and tobacco again very clear. Long finish with spice and tobacco. The alcoholic sharpness goes away a little with water. I like it very much.

Another great rum from the Vendome still. Compared to the Evanius, the dark notes (tar, rubber, wood) predominate, with fruit and sweetness mainly in the finish. Great stuff! Update: Great distillate, wonderfully balanced and with just the right intensity. Go up another 2 points.
Review by Rene Pfeiffer
Another Chairman's of the more fruity and fresh variety. I like it. Alcohol could be a little better integrated.

Ein grandioser Lucia!

At first taste I wasn’t to fond. After a few tastes it really comes into its own.

Traumhafte Nase. Am Gaumen leider etwas zu wild.
