Worthy Park Rum-Bar Gold
Opinions land all over the place: some call it a banana-forward Jamaican with real Worthy Park character, others find it thin and watery neat. On the nose you get banana, caramel and a whiff of nail polish; the palate is light, spiced and a touch woody. Most people agree it wakes up in cocktails, where those ester notes shine. A young, honest, mixing-friendly Jamaican.

All my Tastings and Scores are purely based on “Rums under £50”. I rarely look at Rums over £50 for my YouTube.

Original impressions from 2017 rum calendar. Nose: ** Taste: * Overall: * ”Tequila/päron? 40% Jamaica.” Light funk on the nose with vanilla and raisins. Palate has a sweet but spicy kick to it but also banana and barrelwood.

Strong PLV and comes with me often used in tiki cocktails
Review by Trinkfluencer
Very interesting. The banana comes out very clearly, especially in the finish. Overall, a round rum with woody notes that is very full-bodied. Slightly strong
Review by Christian Rudt
Only suitable for cocktails whereby the licorice note disturbs me here but something. This flavor was much more pleasant in my Ti-Punch from earlier.🙂

A must have in a bar ... I love it in an old fashioned beautiful Jamaican funk from a very young rum ... A very woody pot still Jamaican that can easily outmatch much more expensive rums . A worthy park banana bomb treat

04.2024 First impression: golden Jamaican Nose: fruit and esters Palate: light rather than thin, a little fruit, wood, alcohol, but the 40% works well Finish: warm, alcoholic, a little bit scratchy Conclusion: in Jamaica this is such a forest and meadow rum, here too: it's not a sipper but as a mixer you get slight ester notes. Score remains 7.0. On the occasion of my visit to Worthy Park Estate, Lluidas Vale, Jamaica in February 2024, I brought a few merchandising items with me (see photo) and the memory that the whole area smelled so deliciously of rum and Dunder. 1st Tasting 2022 - remained uncommented here, rating 7.0

A little watery admittedly but it gives a nice spiciness and with the 40% it is also an accessible rum for a beginner.

In the smell really exciting. Versatile after cherry. But in the taste vuel too watered down and too thin. Here was great potential nicbt properly used

Strong pineapple smell, you can taste pineapple and maracuja, body is weird. I just haven´t found proper word for it.

Ziemlich solider pot-still rum. Alleine nicht wirklich schlecht, aber dann doch eher als Mixer geeignet.

Solid rum with fruity notes. I think this rum works well in cocktails, but can also be enjoyed neat. While you can taste the quality straight, the alcohol might be too present for some people, but for cocktails it is a clear level up compared to the usual suspects in the 0815 cocktail bar. It also brings flavor. This could be a good place to start for people who are coming from a cocktail background and want to get closer to the world of rum through mixing.

Pure it's pretty straightforward, nothing special. But it's a tasty mixer!
Review by Jindrich Strobl
Very nice nose, but the taste is a bit insignificant. Probably good for mixed drinks.
Review by C Ap Adam
Nose: Closer to warm apple purée than the Silver, but there's still banana and (darker) melon. Then something of a mix of white wine and cider, with a weak, brown sweetness lurking alongside some custard and iodine. Honestly, I'm a little disappointed - not in the profile but in the punch, particularly in comparison to the Silver. The empty glass offers salty, smoky and woody spices I don't seem to catch in the body of the spirit itself. Mouth: Similarly as thin as the Silver, though spicier and sweeter. But I can't call it distinctive, Finish: Watery, with a mulled apple cider flavoured fizziness. There are spices that linger but not pronouncedly. Impression: Maybe I was hoping for a bit too much, after being bowled over by the Silver. I don't understand the hype. Time to try the Overproof!

Rum-Bar Gold pleasantly surprised me. On the first sniff, you can smell sweetness, a bit of banana, and something woody. The taste is nicely smooth, no cheap burning tail, rather lightly spiced and fruity with a touch of vanilla. It’s not a luxury rum for slow sipping by the fireplace, but great for an evening with friends or in cocktails. For the price, it offers an honest Jamaican character and you feel like you’re drinking something real, not just a sweetened soda.

Read full review →A classic expression of Worthy Park that delivers all the banana you could ever want. On the nose the banana is joined by apple and varnish, but on the palate allspice, cereal and flower shop round out an altogether compelling and budget friendly introduction to Jamaican rum.

Read full review →It is for a fairly young rum, quite complex and I certainly hope that people take the plunge and try a bottle whilst Tesco have stocks as I think they will be very pleasantly surprised. Excellent stuff and I'm looking forward to trying more Worthy Park rums in the future.
