Sip it neat and give it time — at 63.5% the alcohol bites hard first, then rolls in with burnt rubber, plastic and tar over dried plums, raisins and oak. Several tasters flag a marmite/Enmore character rather than a clean Diamond profile. A few drops of water pull out plum and chocolate. Rewarding, but bitter and heavy, and one member woke up with a headache from just 2 cl.

A relationship to Enmore (eg El Dorado 1996) is recognizable, but otherwise a monster. Wood, alcohol and not much else.Even at 2 cl I had a slight hangover the next morning.

Hui, the alcohol initially bites properly in the nose (62.4%). A very spicy bouquet with cardamom, vanilla and pepper. Woody-oaky. Heavy sweetness of blackberries, dried plums and raisins. Out the back about artificial, like slightly burnt plastic. Hui again, a powerful attack on the palate. It starts bitter and immediately burnt plastic and rubber waltzes in, really dirty. But very tasty. Once that roller rolls by, which takes a bit, comes a slight sweetness that quickly turns to bitter notes that linger in the finish. I'm still trying to find something fruity, but nothing comes to mind. Already crass the rum, a little too bitter for me but still really good. 13 yo, MDXC

Nose: Glue, apple, raisin Taste: Apple, orange, vanilla and glue. Finish: Raisins in chocolate, apple and orange.
