For a Trinidad molasses rum at just 44.7%, most tasters find it surprisingly full and complex, with a pear note running start to finish. One member called it "very menthol and rubbery," in a good way. A few wish it had more body.

Very pleasantly surprised! I've actually never had an Angostura in a glass before, so it was the best idea to taste this rum blind first. When I smelled it, my first association was that it must be a kind of TiPunch, with a very present, inviting citrus note. On the palate, it was a pleasantly spicy rum, not necessarily fruity. It wasn't until I could taste a lot of mint towards the end that I was relatively certain that it must be a TDL, one of the later ones (2008-2010). All right, very close - or maybe not. 😉 But that doesn't detract from my assessment at all: what a great rum with only 44.7%! 😋

#4777 11.07. 2024 Relaxing evening with some nice liquids 😊 Nose Wood, complex, spice, apple, roasted, faint chocolate. Palate Wood, light roasted, medium spicy, complex, spices, light apple, light dried fruit. Finish Medium to long, medium spicy, complex, wood, light roasted, light dried fruit. The empty glas has vegetal and light medicinal notes as well as a light cherry note. Rather complex rum despite the relative low ABV.

Typische Angostura Aromen die evtl. etwas intensiver daher kommen. Etwas erdiger und mehr Minze. Wirkt erst etwas alkoholisch, was sich mit der Zeit im Glas verbessert. Ansonsten nichts besonderes, aber auch nicht schlecht. Ohne direkten Vergleich gefällt mir der 1787 etwas besser, da die Reduzierung dem Rum eher gut tut. Was das über die Qualität sagt, bin ich mir nicht sicher. Insgesamt solide, aber wer schon andere Angostura Abfüllungen kennt oder sogar hat, findet hier nicht viel neues. Etwas schade.

Carrément sympa mais beaucoup préféreront les versions plus musclées de nos chers embouteilleurs indépendants. Ce qui est intéressant c'est cette note de poire qu'on trouve tout au long de la dégustation.

Strong TDL notes...mint, mint stems, caramel, vanilla, some red fruit. Quite full for "only" 44.7% ABV. Great drinking strength. A little too bitter on the finish for me. Reminds me of chewing on mint stalks. Quite a long finish though. Great bottling and unexpectedly tasty.

Nose almost only dark (woody) spice, angostura scent; tongue slightly biting, slight sweetness somehow, there is a lot to discover... strong barrel influences, nice finish
