La Favorite Millésime 2011
Woodier and spicier than you'd expect from a Martinique agricole — oak runs nose to finish, with black pepper, anise and pencil shavings alongside ripe yellow fruit (mirabelle, prune, a little banana). At 49.7% the alcohol is mostly well integrated, though a couple of tasters find the attack sharp and the finish short. Most drinkers land on balanced and powerful.

- Well-integrated proof
- But: Very woody

This is also a lovely rum. The wood is there from nose to finish. Add some fruit and spices to the peppery/spicy palate and you fell like in heaven. A wonderful Agricole. Would have loved a higher ABV :-)

Not too thrilled with this profile. Too much nutmeg and pepper for me. Some connoisseurs should appreciate it. I regret its lack of length on the palate.

Tasted together with the 2010 vintage (RX 839). Compared to the 2010, the nose here is fruitier, but less vegetal/floral. This direction continues on the palate and in the finish. Both very tasty, I can't pick a favorite (small play on words).

Une très belle réussite.

This is a great rum from la favorite! Very smooth, delicious, balanced agricole. The alcohol is intergrated very well. With some more AbV/% this rum would hit a higher (90) score, for sure.

The counter sample to the 2010 (RX 839). In my opinion, it is fruitier, but the typical Agricol notes recede further into the background. I think I can taste wood, spice and even a little pepper. The finish could be longer. Narrowly lost to 839

This rum's profile is way too woody and spicy to my liking. Unfortunately, neither the 8 years of aging nor the Cognac and Bourbon casks managed to balance this distillate. I'm very curious to try another rum from this distillery with a higher age count to see if the magic happens. Otherwise, I'll have to try a cuvée La Flibuste 😅

Très aromatique et puissant. Belle note d’épices et légèrement poivré. De bons fruits bien mûrs. Ça passe vraiment bien 😍

Color: Amber to light bright orange-brown Aroma: Sweet (honey), fruity (banana, pineapple), fresh, aromatic and alcoholic. Floral aromas (orange blossom) and perfume. Spicy (aniseed) and woody. Taste: Not very sweet in the mouth, then aromas of caramel and liquorice. Spicy on the swallow, pencil shavings and liquorice. Somewhat alcoholically spicy. Finish: Medium length Spicy, woody and dry. Alcoholically spicy. 85 points

Wood and citrus on the nose, with strong pepper notes. A little too alcoholic for me. On the palate I find more or less the same markers, lemon zest with an overly pronounced bitterness and a not-so-unpleasant spiciness. I'm rather disappointed by this 2011: it lacks balance and the alcohol is poorly integrated. The length on the palate is also too short. It's good but it doesn't break 3 legs on a duck 😁
