Menthol and eucalyptus over ripe yellow fruit — mirabelle, apricot, peach iced tea — with a spicy, slightly dirty edge and some oak on the finish. This 2002 TDL from Swell reads rounder and more fruit-forward than most, with the trademark mint dialed way back. Several tasters call it a "daily sipper" that needs weeks of air to open. Cask strength at 58.1%.

Hmm, also ich werde mit diesem TDL erstaunlicherweise nicht so richtig warm. Wirkt er an der Nase noch lange tropisch gelagert, aber irgendwie unspektakulär, hat er am Gaumen für mich zu wenig Minze, dafür aber eine gewisse Ruppigkeit, ist mir da zu anstrengend, zu herb. Noch ist im Samplefläschchen etwas drin, ich muss ihn noch mal verkosten. Heute jedoch "nur" gerade so 80 Punkte.

Franconian Tasting Gang am 23.11.24 bei Jarek. Irgendwie holt mich wohl T.D.L zur Zeit nicht mehr so wirklich ab. Im Vergleich dazu gab es die T.D.L Eule von Romdeluxe. Als Fazit für mich, kann dieser von Swell leider nicht den Anschluss halten.

Drei T.D.L. im Vergleich: Swell: Sehr gediegener und entspannter TDL, der überhaupt nicht nach 20 Jahren Fassreife schmeckt. Am Gaumen cremig süß mit der gewohnten Minznote, die sich die Waage mit hellen Früchten gibt. Der Abgang ist sehr kurz und eibfach süß minzig mit Oliven. 80 Pkt. TWJ 2009: Mittlerweile finde ich den 2009er Jahrgang mit am besten. Sehr viel Frucht, die vom Antritt bis zum Abgang in intensiver Qualität vorhanden ist. Besonders hervorstechend finde ich die karamellisierte Honigmelone. Die Minze hat im Abgang dann doch noch das letzte Wort =D Sehr geiles Teil 87 Pkt. Ricci 2003: Der "Schwerste" aus den dreien. Eine vollmundige Minzbonbonbombe. Am Gaumen wird die Minze immer intensiver, die Früchte immer dunkler. Toller Rum, sehr viel Minze. 85 Pkt. Alkohol bei allen top integriert. durch den kurzen Abgang fällt der Swell etwas ab.

Goûté au RhumFest 2024 (en début de festival) donc pas dans les conditions idéales. Mais suffisamment pour se rendre compte qu'il s'agit encore d'une très jolie sélection ! Des fruits rouges, du bois. Un cote pâtissier pour la rondeur. Pas assez de temps mais ça semble encore complexe et évolutif. A retester d'urgence.

Tja, und noch ein 2002erT.D.L. An der Nase noch schön klassisch mit den typischen Markern, verliert mich am Gaumen etwas. Am Gaumen verteilt er sich sehr leicht und es erscheint erst eine Karamellsüsse. Danach folgt etwas Minze mit Kräutern und leichter Frucht. Der Abgang setzt sich so fort. Das ist von den 2002er einer der Schwächeren

Im Vergleich zur RDL Eule – meiner 2002 Referenz – verkostet. Für mich bleibt diese Abfüllung etwas zurück und kommt nicht an die Eule ran. Evtl. Auch weil TDL gerade auch nicht so mein profil ist. Nicht schlecht, aber micht ganz meins.

Nose: Relatively round and predominantly fruity notes on the nose. Reminiscent of iced tea peach with a slight minty note. Very inviting overall, but neither particularly intense nor complex. The same game on the palate. A fairly round TDL that I like.

Swell and TDLs are a guarantee for top-class rums. This one as well. It actually comes across as relatively moderate for a TDL. I have menthol and red fruits. Tar and mint notes only extremely subtle. I like it very much. The mint hardliners will find this one too shallow. I like it as an easy sipper. Unfortunately quite expensive, like so many SdS.

An der Nase allerlei gelbe Früchte (Mirabelle, Aprikose), karamellige Süße, die mich ein wenig an Pudding oder Flan erinnert, dahinter dreckige Noten. Menthol ist auch da, aber etwas verhaltener im Vergleich zu anderen 2002er TDLs. Am Gaumen gibt es einen wilden Ritt von fruchtig-süß, über dreckig-mentholig zu einem ziemlich herben (Fass-) Finish. Erinnert vom Profil an den RdL TML 42 (wenn ich meine Aufzeichnungen lese), aber subjektiv (ohne den direkten Vergleich) kommt er an diesen nicht ganz heran. Trotzdem richtig guter 2002er TDL!

Grundsolider TDL mit der typischen Minz Note, untermalt von grünem Apfel, reifen Aprikosen und Pfirsichen und generell eher gelbem Steinobst an der Nase. Aromatisch dann eine intensive sauer bittere Cassis Note, mich stört aber eine leicht medizinische Note nach bitterem Jod zusammen mit Menthol und Granny Smith Apfel... Auch leichte Abzüge für die nicht optimal ausfallende Alkohol Integration. Eine Flasche würde ich mir hier eher nicht kaufen.

Hab mich ganz zu Hause gefühlt bei dem Knaben. Mag das komplexe Aromenspiel von Menthol/Minze, Pfirsich und einer ordentlichen Würze. Dezente Lösungsmittel-Note. Aber am schönsten ist eigentlich der lange Abgang mit schöner Menthol- und würziger Note. Alkohol ist durchschnittlich gut eingebunden. Mog I

Un nez pas trop mal sans être exceptionnel... sur les épices, du bois, de l’alcool, de la poussière, une pomme verte et un très léger menthol. Pas grand chose à se mettre sous la dent. En bouche c’est nettement meilleur ! Les fruits rouges arrivent et le menthol s’affirme. Un côté caroniesque est aussi présent, sur le caoutchouc et quelque chose de crade. Il est très puissant avec une finale moyennement longue. Bref, le nez rattrapé largement par la bouche, une bouteille qui mérite sans conteste quelques semaines (voir mois d’aération) pour exprimer son plein potentiel. Beau produit même si très en dessous des deux TDL 2000, et au dessus des 2005 sortis chez Swell.

Franconian Tasting Gang - 23.11.2024: Zusammen mit dem Rom Deluxe No. 42 verkostet. Typischer TDL des 2002 Jahrgangs, aber ohne Ecken und Kanten (wenn man von dem nicht perfekt eingebundenen Alkohol absieht). Minze ist da, wenn auch dezenter als bei anderen Abfüllungen. Etwas schmutzige Noten und Pfirsich ebenfalls dabei. Lecker, solide, nicht spektakulär.

Kaum Minznoten, welche sonst beim 2002er T.D.L deutlich stärker im Vordergrund sind. Dafür rote Früchte und dreckige Noten. Im Abgang das etwas Holz und leicht bitter. Alkohol ist ordentlich integriert.

Fajn jemná vůně mentolu/máty a lesních plodů, vanilky, bylinek. Na jazyku je to mírně ovocné a bylinkové, objeví se třísloviny, je to celkem krátké a nijak objevné. Krásný závěr, hodně mentol, máta, lesní plody. Konec dobrý, všechno dobré😀

Die Nase ist schon mal sehr geil, die gelben Früchte (überreife Mirabelle?) springen einem quasi ins Gesicht, dahinter etwas wie eine ganz dezente Rauchnote. Minze quasi nicht zu finden, höchstens zu erahnen. Sehr elegant, macht definitiv Lust auf mehr. Am Gaumen brutal saftige gelbe Früchte, Wahnsinn, der ist richtig lecker. Leider quasi keine Minze bzw. Krautigkeit zu finden, die ich so an den 2002er Abfüllungen liebe, und auch nicht übermäßig komplex, dies verwehrt ihm eine höhere Wertung. Aber trotzdem einfach unglaublich lecker und der gelbfruchtigste TDL, den ich bisher probieren konnte.

Gefällt mir sehr gut. Kühlende Eukalyptus-Mentholnoten, Fassaromen, schwere Fruchtnoten, Tee, leichte Röstigkeit und dunkle Gewürze. Der Alkohol ist vorzüglich integriert. Ein vergleichsweise runder TDL-Vertreter im dreckigen Profil, der Spass macht.

Sehr guter TDL aus dem Hause swell. Typische TDL Minze is vorhanden, wenn auch nicht so intensiv. Schön cremig, mit Ecken und Kanten. Daily sipper, der aber eine Zeit zum Atmen braucht. Alkohol ist gut eingebunden.
