TCRL Bonne Mère Guadeloupe #16 2013

One member called it a "very delicious daily driver," and that fits: toasted banana runs from nose to finish, with lightly smoky chamomile, squashed grapes and a juniper edge that reminds a few tasters of an aged gin. Creamy, cinnamon-candy texture. The recurring gripe is the 43% dilution — several wish it hit harder and found it a touch thin.

Good rum, but it still lacks something to go up.

Wirkt etwas dünn. Geschmacklich dadurch etwas nichtssagend.

Straightforward agricole notes on the nose. Immediately you get fresh and toasted banana that will persist all the way to the finish, as well as very nice lightly smoky chamomile tea. The nose is rounded off by some squashed grapes, salty seawater and woody juniper berries. The palate is very much alike. Again toasted banana and the chamomile with some sweet, juicy apples mixed in. It’s all very elegant and light. Almost like an aged gin. Quite interesting to see the smoky wood notes sourced from juniper and chamomile. Unfortunately you can taste the overdilution. It’s a lovely rum, that would have been much stronger at higher ABV.

Smooth and creamy. Medium smokiness that is noticeable but not overpowering. Coconut and banana on the nose and palate.

A very surprising Guadeloupean, with a profile that stands out from the usual pure Guadeloupean juices. A little fruity candy with cinnamon. With a very creamy Werther's Original texture. Nice. Easy. Pleasant.

In the nose candied orange, papaya, lemongrass, egg liquor, vanilla, caster sugar and a spiciness like juniper. In the taste the lemongrass and orange become more prominent. A little banana comes to it in the finish. Still easily available in the Netherlands years after bottling, I'm not sure why as it's definitely worth its price.

Oh well these transcontinental rum line runs, especially the early iterations, really know how to hit the marque for what they cost. This one is really what I want from a cheapish Guadeloupe rum. Very solid
