ReimonenQ Réserve RQL 1999
If you expect a grassy, sharp agricole, this cane-juice rhum from Guadeloupe goes the other way: soft, round and almost silky. Members find oak and warm spice up front, with apricot, peach, cherry and a caramel-crème brûlée sweetness, then a light smoke on the finish. One taster called it "en douceur typique" — gentle and well balanced despite the modest strength. A calm, mature sipper more than a bright agricole.

Got the opportunity to taste this extraordinary rum during my visit at the distillery recently which was great, cause than I can save my own bottle a while more. The RQL, vintage 1999, has been released yearly since 2010 till the last release of this 19yr old one released 2018. Right now there are just a very few bottles left at the distillery that’s not for sale. The nose is round, fruity, woody and spicy with scents of oak, apricot, prunes, banana, peach and spices. At the palate it’s round almost silky, woody, spicy, fruity with some sweetness and flavors of vanilla, peppers, chili, leather, cherry and oak. The finish is long, spicy and smoky but also some flavors from the palate persists.

Farbe: Hellbraun, schwach rötlich Geruch: Zu Beginn süße fruchtige Aromen (Aprikose) und ein Schwall Toffee. Dann dunkle Schokolade und holzige Aromen. Die Fruchtigkeit lässt immer mehr nach. Geschmack: Süß, ölig, cremig und leicht würzig im Mund. Beim Schlucken Karamell und leicht würzig-holzig. Grüne Zweige, pflanzlich-medizinisch, Eukalyptus, sirup-artig und sogar ein bisschen klebrig Abgang: Mittellang Altes Holz, leicht würzig, Hustensaft. 84 Punkte

Rhum en douceur typique ReimonenQ Le nez est doux et gourmand sur le bois, le sucre de canne et les fruits exotiques. Une touche d’épices douce. En bouche on retrouve la gourmandise et la douceur. Le bois est toujours bien présent, avec de l’épice et du caramel, crème brûlée. De belles notes de fruits exotiques, et une touche fumée en fin de dégustation. La finale et longue et douce, un peu de poivre, le tout dans le bois qui n’aura pas quitté la dégustation mais qui est ici un peu fumé en fin. La douceur est le maître mot mais c’est bien maitrisé et très équilibré vu le « degrés faible ».
