SaibotZtar Barrel Aged Mai Tai Blend 2023
Nail polish, glue and overripe banana come barreling out — a Hampden/Long Pond blend built for one job: the Mai Tai. Members who tried it neat were surprised how ripe it drinks for a one-year-old at 61.5%, with pineapple, marzipan and plenty of oak backing the ester punch. Fruity Hampden meets the spicy, woody edge of Long Pond. Loud, dry, and made for high-ester cocktail people.

How does SaibotZtar Barrel Aged Mai Tai Blend 2023 taste?
Aggregated from 13 community reviews.
Loud Hampden/Long Pond blend for the Mai Tai Consensus: a seriously well-made high-ester blend that "rockt den Mai Tai" and holds up neat too. Only catch — it's young, hot, and a tiny batch.

Saugut gemacht SaibotZtar. Weiter so.

Perfekter High Ester Blend! Kommt sicher im Mai Tai extrem gut!

8,6:On the nose, esters, nail polish, varnish, fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red fruits, briny olive, roasted wood notes like pastry, marzipan, caramel, brown sugar, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is fresh with tea, flowery, dark with licorice, mango, papaya and citrus fruits arise, the wood is spicy with baking spices, slightly smoky, creamy, balanced. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, nail polish, glue, varnish, later rubber, fruity with fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red fruits, slightly astringent, the wood is roasted with cocoa, caramel, marzipan, barrel impact is obvious, spicy with allspice, slightly smoky, nutty, resinous, as the molasses is vegetal with briny olive, flowery, herbaceous. 8,5:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, dirty, medicinal with burnt rubber, esters, glue, plastic, phenol, fruity with red and tropical fruits, the wood is roasted, burnt, smoky and spicy, as the molasses is floral..

Clearly more esters and less dry, but somewhat sweeter and much more intense than the 2022 blend. Here the alcohol is a bit more present and it also feels noticeably younger. Overall, I like the 2022 much better and find it more complex in my opinion. Still, a really well-made high ester blend!

This is a great blend in a Mai Tai! The esters and fruits shine beautifully through the rest of the Mai Tai components. But in a clear, p recise way. On itself, it is a demanding rum. Big on esters and fruits. The wood also comes around to say hello but it drinks fairly hot/is spicy. It is obviously meant as a mixer but you get a better understanding of what it does in the Mai Tai when trying it as a component. A big congratulations to Saibotzar for creating this successful blend!
