A.F.D. S.B.S Dominican Republic 2012

The port cask does the heavy lifting here: think dark chocolate, espresso, dried berries and a faint glue note over roasted oak. Several tasters flag a leaning sweetness from the finish — one enjoyable, another "too much" for a sugar-avoider. At 57% it warms fast but drinks smoother than the number suggests. A rounded, cask-driven Dominican that's easy to sip if you don't mind port.

An easy drinker for wide spectrum of rum lovers. I think this can be an enjoying rum for relative newbies (who are already used to higher ABV), but also to people who drank many other rums. It's easy, it's not too complex, it's just a solid rum for occasions when you want to sip something nice and not too disruptive.

#7 Club of Enjoyment Xmas-Calendar. Nose: Chocolate, spicy, caramel, coconut, glue, roasted, woody, tobacco, espresso, honey Mouth: sweet, Alcoholic, glue, woody, caramel, honey, spicy, tobacco, blackcurrant, chocolate Finish: Medium long, dry, woody, tannins, chocolate, caramel, nougat. Prediction: Belize, <10yr, 55-60%. Intensiv and dominate caramel and chocolate notes. Alcoholic and spicy, but a few drops of water helps. The Port finish, isn’t notable well enough
