MHOBA Mhoba Rum JB 1 (Warehouse #1) 2019
Pour it neat and give it 15 minutes — several tasters say the glue and ester blast settles into bright citrus, peach and pineapple with a sweetish edge. This is cane-juice South African funk from a pot still at cask strength: glue, overripe fruit, bourbon-cask oak and smoke. One member found the citrus wasn't for him; most others were happy to sit with it.

Zeigt in der Nase die typische MHOBA-Signatur mit frischem Zuckerrohr, Klebstoff, Ananas und etwas Rauch. Am Gaumen kräftig, erdig und leicht ölig, begleitet von Kräutern, Holz und einer subtilen Fruchtsüße. Der Alkohol bringt Druck, bleibt aber gut integriert. Der Abgang ist trocken, würzig und leicht mineralisch. Ein charaktervoller Rum mit unverkennbarer Herkunft, intensiv, ehrlich und ohne Kompromisse.

High Ester der fast an Hampden erinnert mit einer schönen Zitrus/Pfirsich-Note. Etwas trocken und adstringierend im Abgang.

Jak platí u kdečeho, tady to platí ještě víc. Nechte rum odpočnout ve skleničce. Potom se vám do ruky dostane velmi přijemné plnění od mhoby, které se fakt povedlo. Ve vůní trocha kanagonu smíchaného s karamelem. V chuti je toto všechno, navíc výrazně propsany sud po jim beamu. Kouř a dřevo. Já mám nakouřené věci rád. A ty technické taky, takže jsem zcela spokojen :-)

Na každé plnění pro CZ se těším, ale na Mhobu dvakrát tolik. Tohle plnění má dvě tváře. První hned po nalití do skleničky, kdy se všude kolem rozvinou esterové vůně. Chuť po čerstvém nalití je hodně esterová, cítím hodně lepidla (kanagom) a boubon. V závěru je cítit hořkost, která mi zde moc nesedí. Pokud se ale nechá ve skleničce odpočinout (cca 15 minut) těkavé látky (estery a lepidlo) ustoupí a v chuti začnou převažovat krásné ovocně citrusové chuti, které jsou až do sladka. Hořký závěr zcela vymizí. Každopádně je to za mne chutnější plnění než předešlé (S.A.W whisky cask), protože po této whisky to chytilo kouřovitost, která né každému chutná. Mne nevadí, ale mnoho rumařů to odradí.
