Original impressions from 2017 rum calendar. Nose: **** Taste: *** Overall: *** I have tasted a few more rums since this one back in 2017 and this one deserves a higher grade than my first impression. Nose is just what I like in rums, dried fruits with vanilla. The marsala casks is there with a nice winebarrel touch. Maybe a hint of oranges after it has settled. Palate is strong but expected at 55 ABV, here are the spices and tropical fruits most notable. A pleasant sipper with a nice finish of barrel and spices with a small splash of sweetness.

Foursquare Distillery 2008 1423 World Class Spirits Barbados Distilled: 2008 Bottled: 11.2017 Aged 9 Years 55% Marsala Cask Finish (12 Monate) One of 371 Bottles Farbe: Bernstein Geruch: Marsala, dann sehr viel Toffee und Karamell, Tabak sowie Ahornsirup. Zudem fruchtige Aromen von Orange und Feige. Geschmack: Weich und cremig im Mund. Beim Schlucken würzig. Aromen von Pfeffer, Toffee und Sandelholz sowie etwas Lakritze und Tabak. Abgang: Lang, trocken und würzig mit Toffee-Aromen. Fazit: Sehr sauber, lecker, aber wenig komplex. 85 Punkte

Another fine rum from 1423. The nose is light and kind of sweet with some vanilla, orange and toffee. In the back i get caramel, nuts and a tad of polish/varnish. The palate is complex and creamy with fruit and vanilla. On the back i get caramel, varnish and some barrel. The finish is medium to long with oak and vanilla topped with a bit of citrus and marzipan.
