Still learning to fully appreciate the high ester rums. Comparing with the Veliers Papalin 5yr I find the latter to be smoother and slightly more balanced.

Lots of pineapple and berries on the nose, mixed with a good glug of black tea. River pebbles and berries on the palate. Also a woody pencil shaving note. The finish is dry, mid length, lots of ginger and the blueberries from the palate in the background, becoming more junipery as it developed. A good example of Jamaican rum. Not my favorite Hampden, but it's worth a try.
