Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 43 Deadset Blend
One taster called this "kein Rum, mit dem man sich akademisch beschäftigt" — and that fits. It's an easy sipper: honey and vanilla up front, gooseberry, pear and light florals, then spice, salt and a little wood. A five-country blend with a REV cask finish. Most people find the nose lovely; a few feel the palate goes thin and the finish falls a bit short.

How does Rumclub Private Selection Ed. 43 Deadset Blend taste?
Aggregated from 63 community reviews.
Honey-and-fruit easy sipper, thin finish Most tasters land around "easy, round daily sipper" with a gorgeous honey-and-fruit nose. The recurring catch: palate can read thin and the finish turns short, dry or slightly bitter.

Very interesting dry blend. I was looking for a trace of HD 29Yr, which is supposed to be there but is carefully hidden. This blend has a very long finish, sour sherry, nicely dry. Maybe the HD comes out in that long finish. I'm enjoying it very much!

RumClub's own blend in the cask. And a really nice, well-balanced, uncomplicated but sufficiently complex blend. Nose: very fruity and spicy, smooth and sweet. The first thing I notice is a pleasant syrupy, almost floral honey sweetness. Closely accompanied by sweet-tart gooseberry or kiwi, blackberry and pear and citrus fruits, perhaps citrus marmalade. Sugar syrup with vanilla adds a final touch. This is followed by fine spicy notes; mace and a very light hint of liquorice. It is also slightly woody. Very pleasant 8.6 Palate: very smooth to drink despite the 52%. Quite spicy at the beginning. First aniseed and a nice metallic-salty tip, before caraway, gooseberry and a bacony nuttiness get ready. I would say salty almonds. I can hardly make out the fruit, perhaps green apple. But the finish is a little short. 8.4 All in all, an easy sipper, although I find it difficult to pick out the individual components of Australia, Fiji, Jamaica, Barbados, Puerto Rico and Trinidad. Very suitable for beginners.

Very well executed blend with quite some complexity to it. Fruity notes and spices are working very well together on the nose. Similar on the palate with a good evolution towards a long finish with dried fruits. Nice sipper.
Review by Schnubbii

The nose greets me with aromas that I would assign to Guyana and Jamaica. On the palate, first Jamaica and lots of wood, then Guyana too. The alcohol is more present here than I had expected with the ABV. The finish is wonderfully chocolaty (dark chocolate 80%+) Conclusion: very solid blend in the upper entry-level range at a fair price, very good!

The new bottling from the RumClub Edition is very complex, both on the nose and on the palate. The guys have really blended something together. It's not for every day, but it definitely has a lot of aromas that you can taste bit by bit. In any case, the price-performance ratio is absolutely fine.

Oh, I can't even taste a country, let alone a distillery, it's not sophisticated, but simply fantastically balanced and sips away, that's how it should be!

The nose is really fun. Especially the sweet honey part. Has something of mead. More spice with pepper on the palate. The whole thing is very harmonious but also a little thin. I like it very much as a simple sipper.
Review by Dr.Django
A very exciting blend, which in my opinion is a success. Delicious easy sipper, in which the Australian part (if you know it, in the blind tasting I was absolutely clueless and had guessed Guyana=D) comes through clearly. The honey note and the bright fruits stand out and are pleasing, a little smoke also comes through briefly, which harmonizes very well with the honey. Unfortunately, the finish is quite short, but the aftertaste is all the more fun. I highly recommend playing with the amount of rum on the palate. Third tasting: -2 pts.

#5076 Saturday 24.01.2025 - 26.01.2025 A nice weekend in my sisters summerhouse with old friends and colleagues tasting a lot of rums. I can only recommend like we did, no phones allowed and then only music in the background 😊 Colour Medium dark to dark. Nose Fresh, wood, light roasted, faint floral, dried fruit, light caramel, faint glue, light citrus. Palate Oily, light wood, fresh, round, light banana, faint smoke, dried fruit, spice, light caramel, naturally sweet. Finish Medium long, oily, wood, dried fruit, light caramel, faint chocolate, faint licorice. Empty glass Spice, raisin, light chocolate, light caramel, faint vegetal.

Tasted at the Pueblo del Ron 2024. At first I was a little skeptical about this blend, but I was proved wrong. At least it has a good complexity that is relatively harmonious. Also fair for the price. But it wasn't a real winner at the fair.
Review by Boletus

Quite nice but nothing more. As always, a stable Spirit or Rum - RumClub. But like some of its predecessors, not a "must have". Nice nose with licorice, wood and fruity on the palate then a spicy fruit bread with wood.
Review by Thunderbird
I really like the nose of this blend. A beautiful intense fruitiness of various berries, paired with vanilla and honey scents... like a beautiful late summer evening. On the palate, however, it does not live up to its promise. It spreads lightly and softly without any aroma emerging. A minimal sweetness is noticeable... gradually it develops from tart berries to more spices, cask and long-cooked espresso... this is clearly too little in terms of aromas. The finish is reasonably good... a little sour cherry joins the spicy, woody aromas very late on. A solid blend, but nothing more.

First read up on what the Spezi is all about: A blend of Fiji, Jamaica, Barbados, Puerto Rico and Trinidad. The whole thing was then matured for another 7 months in a cask from the 2006 Enmore REV Ed. 39. Gooseberry meringue pie, Calvados, baked apple and cream candy on the nose. Pleasantly soft on the palate at first, almost like a cognac, but then quite strong notes of allspice, sandalwood, mocha. Long finish, which I find not so pleasant...(astringent-salty). A successful experiment? Overall, I think so.
Review by Mentalo
Review by Buddudharma
A beautiful blend, which in my opinion is characterized by a young Jamaican. Complex, but not 100% coherent in profile. Nevertheless, an interesting experiment.

Krasne vonavy rum. Citim tam měsíce tóny, lesní ovoce a náznaky sirupu nebo marmelády. Náznaky kovové chute, ovocné tóny, které přecházejí do dřeva. Na pití je ale prijemny.
