Give it an hour to breathe and this Réunion Grand Arôme opens right up: sour cherry, bourbon vanilla, dark chocolate and a cool menthol streak sitting over varnish and overripe tropical fruit. Members call it one of the best Savannas they've had — hugely complex, oily, and packed with esters. At 64.2% the heat is real, but tasters say it integrates well once rested.

Grâce à un membre d'un groupe Facebook j'ai pu récupérer quelques licornes GA et Herr en split. 👃 Dès l'ouverture du sample, un magnifique vernis vient englober la pièce, accompagné d'épices orientales (poivre rose, sel rose de l'Himalaya). Ça embaume les fleurs tropicales ; badamier, orchidées vanille et Tiaré Tahiti. J'ai du caramel sur le toffee, des noix de cajou caramélisées. Des fruits surmûris (jacquier, mangue, fruits de la passion) voir légèrement pourris apparaissent à mesure de la dégustation. On termine avec l'odeur d'un bocal à olives vertes et des tapenades. 😋 Première bouche sur de la fumée de bois, douelle carbonisée, très vivace et rapide comme un éclair. Puis, beaucoup de fruits sur le coulis de framboises, les pâtes de fruits rouges, les baies noires, les fruits confits. L'aspect fruité évolue sur les Loukoums, les bonbons à la rose, mais aussi vers le zeste de pamplemousse confit, l'orange sanguine. Ce côté acidulé me rappelle un mix entre des bonbons arlequins et des têtes brûlées. C'est gourmand sur des tuiles au chocolat noir/piment/framboise/pécan qui se baladent par-ci par-là. J'y trouve aussi un peu d'huile essentielle de menthe verte. L'alcool est très bien intégré autant au nez qu'en bouche. Je ne ressent pas les 64°. ⛳ Longue finale, chaude, encore les esters de fruits trop mûrs, les épices de cuisine, un chocolat noir amère. Le verre vide dégagent des effluves d'olives noires, de tapenades, de bacon fumé et de diverses salaisons. Magnifique Grand Arôme, complexe, évolutif, intense du début à la fin, sans manquer d'une certaine finesse. Le meilleur GA de chez Savanna que j'ai pu déguster pour le moment. A-t-il un concurrent sérieux ?

wahnsinn. ganz anderes Profil quasi wie Joghurette mit Zartbitterschokolade, grünem granny Smith Apfel und Karamell. total abgefahren!🤤 dazu sowohl in nase als auch Geschmack Menthol, Werthers echte Karamellbonbons, grüner saurer Apfel Kakao und viele Beerenfrüchte und Sandelholz sowie vergorenes Obst. insgesamt sehr rund und harmonisch!

#9 RumXHighE(a)ster weeks: Blind tasting: Savanna 10-15 years of aging approx. 60% mid ester Lovely combination of a mix of berries, fruits, nuts and the barrel Result: That was a good outing. Very delicious rum. The alcohol is integrated very well. The best from savanna i‘ve tried so far.

Tag 9 im RumX-Ester-Kalender, blind. Dass hier trotz Ester kein Jamaika im Glas ist, war wohl schnell klar. Relativ schnell ging mein Tipp dann auch nach Réunion zu Savanna, da sich vor allem im Abgang das typische Profil der Destille zeigt. Unglaublich komplexe Nase, die aus dem Glas schon entgegenströmt und nahezu alles bietet: Frucht, schokoladige Noten, pflanzliches, Menthol, das macht Spaß! Am Gaumen dann schließlich etwas dunkler, rostiger, ja sogar bitterer, aber in einem angenehmen Maß. Dazu weiterhin eine bunte Ladung Ester, sodass keine Daseinsberechtigungen für den Kalender fehlen. Tolle Abfüllung und perfekt für diese Aktion!

I just love grand arome because they're usually a flavour bomb. This one is no exception. Intense and lightly funky with fruits, spices and wood in a nice balance. I like the nutty flavour as well as the chocolate that is released once rested for a while. In the finish there is nice roasted/smoky wood 😊

wenn es so etwas wie einen ausgewogenen Grand Arome gibt, dann kommen wir dem Idealbild hier sehr nahe. Die für mich so markanten roten Früchte (hier viel Sauerkirschen) und Bourbon-Vanille kommen gut zur Geltung, dazu eine leichte Menthol-Frische und Karamell. Am Gaumen ist der Alkohol präsent, aber nicht unangenehm. Daneben gibt es viel Röstaromen und Cognac (Traube). Der Abgang ist hier vielleicht sogar das Beste: Vanille. geräuchertes Fass, Minze,Tabak, und wieder die roten Früchte.

Blind verkostet E(a)sterweeks 2022 - Day 9 Die Nase ist schon Mal der Hammer! So viele unterschiedliche Aromen zu entdecken und es hört gar nicht auf! Der Alkohol ist aber auch nicht unauffällig. Am Gaumen eine gewaltige Aromenexplosion zuerst ein wenig verdeckt von der alkoholischen Schärfe aber sobald die abklingt kommt der typischen Grand Arome Charakter hervor, begleitet von einer schönen und intensiven Würze. Die Aromen bleiben sehr lange im Mundraum kleben. Ein gewaltiger Rum mit einer unglaublichen Vielzahl an Aromen zum entdecken.

Ein sehr ungewöhnlicher Rum , aber im positiven Sinn! Unheimlich komplex und vielschichtig. Von der Nase bis zum Abgang entdeckt man permanent neue Aromen! Ich bin begeistert!

Rum X Easter 25.4.2: Really good thing we have here😋In the nose sharp, glue, nutty, overripe, medicinal, wood, dried. plum. In the mouth warm, cherry, wood, tangerine, toasted, slightly meaty and cola. Finish very fruit-heavy, which also puts me on Savanna: Bitter orange, plum, strawberry and cola again get to me.I would also guess a Savanna. Grand Arôme, 60-62%, 10 year oldThunderstruck would be very horny🤩.

Blindverkostung, #Easterweeks Tag 9: Kommt mir wieder bekannt vor. Tippe vom Geruch her auf Savanna. Gaumen bestätigt mich. Habe den Thunderstruck 2004, 14y im Sinn. Da war ich recht nah dran. Toller Rum.
