Velier Caroni Heavy Trinidad Rum (LMDW) HTR 2000
Anyone already deep into Caroni will know what they're signing up for: tar, rubber and roasted wood, but this 2000 leans drier and more complex than most, with red fruit and cherry softening the edges. One French taster called it a Caroni that's "complexe et fruité" rather than harsh. At 68.4% the power is there, and most find it well integrated.

Day 24 of the Samples de luxe calendar. Splendid nose that plunges me into the Caroni universe. Not a hard, uncompromising Caroni, but a complex, fruity Caroni. Ouch! Powerful on the palate, the massive aromas yet quickly round out and intertwine. A village fete with old wooden houses and smoking chimneys. A thousand smells of overripe fruit and cars baking in the afternoon sun. The finish reveals the potential of this rum with other expressions, then others. Infinite and perfect. An exceptional rum, especially for its finish, but it undoubtedly still reserves some pleasant surprises for oxidation. The empty glass shows off a nearby machine shop.

30.05.2020 Had a nice afternoon with friends and friends of friends including some nice bottles of rum. Notes Dark in colour. Nose Heavy, wood, roasted, tar, rubber, light mint, fruits, cherry. Palate Heavy, oily, wood, roasted, faint smoke, dried fruit, leather, tar, rubber. Finish Long and warm, wood, roasted, tannins, leather, tar, dried fruit.

Erstaunlich Herb und Rauchig für einen Caroni, was ihm aber eine Einzigartigkeit verleiht. Dennoch sind die Caroni typischen Noten wie Teer und Gummi zu finden. Rund und Komplex, schöne 2000er Abfüllung!

... Caroni je destilerie z Trinidadu, produkujici v dobe sve nejvetsi slavy rum, ktery se pridaval v pomeru 1:10 do namornickeho blendu. Byl totiz moc vyrazny a divny nez aby byl prijemny na jazyku. V roce 2000 destilerka skoncila s produkci a byla uzavrena. Az v roce 2010 se objevili degustatori, kteri si rum oblibili prave pro jeho specialni chut. A zajem rostl. Caroni patri do kategorie rumu "you need to try before you die". Doporucuji, Caroni je opravdu unikatni rum.

Ich hatte das Glück diesen seltenen Caroni verkosten zu dürfen. Schön schmutzig mit weniger fruchtigen Noten dafür aber mit viel Caroni DNA, relativ viel Süße, Gewürze und ordentlich Fasseinfluss. Die 68 % geben Power und sind meiner Meinung nach auch sehr gut eingebunden.

Svincany caroni tasting 19.12.2024 Měl jsem v tento vzorek velké očekáváni a na nose jsem byl po nalití měl obavy. Nicméně po pár minutách se nos projeví a začne objevovat technická nálož, která mimo obvyklé techniky nabízí temperové barvy. Chuť je brutální, komplexní a co je pro mě u caroni celkem neobvykle velmi suchá. Nádherný kousek.
