Unusual Mount Gay. Very nice mint - almost reminiscent of a TDL.
Review by Mirko Frosini 🇮🇪
It didn't blow me away, but I found the burn finish interesting. A little unbalanced the alcohol integration.
Review by Jakob
A rock-solid rum, but in my opinion it lacks almost any enthusiasm. Spices, herbs, wood, a little caramel sweetness and a present smoky note are recognizable, and there is also a little fruitiness.
Review by cigares
Leather, vegetal, bitter herbs, almonds and lemon on the nose, with sandalwood on the palate too, with tropical fruit and leather. The finish is moderately long on sandalwood and fruit. A fine rum with aromatic woodiness, freshness and fruit.

To round off the Whitsun weekend, a little mount gay last ward comparison. Both are very similar, but the nuances are different. In the back of my mind, both remind me a little of T.D.L's. For me it's a neck and neck race, although I would prefer the RX190 due to the better P/L ratio.

This is really a great gay mount!

Very good! Characterized by many tropical (sour) fruits and citrus fruits, herbs, spices, chocolate and honey. Exciting profile and tasty base, made more complex by the bourbon cask, but still lacking the desirable refinement and roundness.

Then the next Habitation Velier, now a Mount Gay. On the nose we have a lot of vanilla and caramel, but also glue and solvent. On the palate we also have a lot of vanilla, surrounded by herbs and above all mint.

8,3:On the nose, typical Bajan notes with baking spices, roasted wood, yellow fruits, orange peel, glue. On aeration, caramel is stronger, nuts with an almond, leather, vanilla and some banana. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is very fruity with yellow fruits, citrus, tropical fruits like banana, coconut, dried fruits like apricots, woody with roasted notes like leather, caramel, dark chocolate and spicy with baking spices, a bit salty, medicinal with solvents, hints of petrol and menthol.A molasses is herbaceous... 8,5:The finish is dry, smoky, fruity, the wood is still roasted, perhaps burnt with confectionery, toffee, caramel, nuts, still salty and spicy. The molasses is herbaceous, also a bit vegetal. There are some menthol undertones..

A very spicy rum with a touch of sweet to it. It has a lack of depth, unfortunately, a bit of funky would have done well for this version. I recommend adding a bit of water which will make it more "Bajan" style taste.
Review by TheRhumhoe
A rather unique rum. The nose is quite dense, almost dusty, with quite a lot of glue, solvents and medicinal notes, to which are added dark notes of leather, chocolate, almond and walnut. The woody spiciness is quite intense and suggests something of a roughneck. The impression on the nose is confirmed on the palate. The palate is powerful, dark, bitter, spicy, alcoholic, herbaceous, roasted and woody. There's a touch of orange and, above all, menthol, which bursts in from nowhere and lends a pleasant freshness. The alcohol could be better integrated. Empyreumatic notes and bitterness unfortunately outweigh the rest of the profile. The finish is dry, bitter and long, with smoky, salty, spicy, vegetal and even earthy notes. An original and interesting profile, but a little too unbalanced between the alcohol and the over-dominant smoky, spicy notes.

Not recognizable as Mount Gay. Still somewhat monotonous on the nose, a tobacco and herbal extract explodes in the mouth. Exciting that this can also be Barbados, would have blindly bet on a Trinidad rum. PLV is good in my opinion but not very good
Review by Henry Davies
An interesting Mount Gay rum. The noise is fairly restrained, some tropical fruit, muscavado sugar and leather bound books. On the mouth it is subtler than I was expecting and drinks well below ABV. Moderately integrated, with long leather elements and some charred wood. It has layers which go more towards sugar and fruit but overall remains on the dryer end. The finish is medium and again fairly well behaved. Solid MG but not setting the world on fire in the same way as some other Velier releases, a little bit timid and flat to really show the best of the spirit
