Rumbuddy Diamond Guyana Rum (1st Release) MDS 2008
Molasses syrup, licorice and dark chocolate lead here — a classic dark Diamond with coffee, malt, dried plum and roasted oak. Most tasters find it oily and full-bodied, "very drinkable," with dried blood orange in the mix. The recurring gripe: at 62.1% the alcohol still pokes through for several, and the finish, while dark, runs a little short.

Heute einen Newcomer zum Testen im Glas. Zieht Leiche Fäden. Nase nicht übermäßig stark aber gut. Sirup, gebrannter Zucker, Malz, etwas vergorene Früchte. Am Gaumen dann deutlich mehr Aromen: Dunkle Schokolade, Kaffee, vergorene Früchte, etwas Menthol, ganz wenig Lösungsmittel und einige Süße. Allerdings könnte der Alkohol besser eingebunden sein. Der Rum versteckt seine 62,1% nicht. Der Abgang ist lang und ordentlich trocken. Gefällt mir gut. PLV aufgrund der Komplexität für knapp 85 EUR wirklich gut.

Die erste Abfüllung vom Rumbuddy. Die Specs sind vergleichbar mit dem RumClub No. 36 (muss ich neu nächste Gelegenheit mal vergleichen). PLV geht auf jeden Fall in Ordnung. Edit: gefällt mir doch besser als der RC No. 36, denn er ist am Gaumen weniger sauer, weniger bissig und daher runder. Nase: schön würzig-holzig und dunkel-malzig-röstig. Zu Beginn intensive, süße, weiche, leicht salzige Lakritze. Dunkle Schokolade umgibt getrocknete Blutorange und Dörrpflaume. Ein Spritzer frischer Zitrone ist auch dabei. Sehr leckere, klassische Diamond Nase. 8,4 Gaumen: sehr vollmundig, kräftig und doch weich. Am Anfang salzige Schokolade mit süßer Tonkabohne, dahinter eine leichte Menthol-Note bevor etwas Tabak, malzige Lakritze und krass starker Melassesirup den Mundraum erfüllen. Ja, die Melasse ist am Ende bestimmend - sauer-lakritzig, bitter-salzig. Guter, nicht so kompliziert Diamond-Vertreter. 8,4

Die erste Abfüllung des Rumbuddys, wieviele werden noch folgen? Zum Einstand auf jeden Fall eine gelungene Abfüllung. Kein Überhighlight, aber für den Preis wirklich mehr als solide! Bespielt die volle Klaviatur der dunklen Aromen, das muss man mögen, aber es harmoniert in sich. Ein wahrscheinlich typischer Vertreter der jüngeren Diamonds, der aber durch sein Fass ein besonderes, dunkles Alleinstellungsmerkmal bekommen hat.

Sehr schöne dunkle Noten. Malzig, dunkle Schokolade, Lakritze ein paar Kräuter, Melasse. Schöner mittellanger Nachklang und sehr süffig. Sehr guters PLV. Die erste Abfüllung vom Rumbuddy macht mich neugierig, was da noch alles seinen Wegvin die Flasche findet.

Intensive Röstige Töne. Sehe starke holzige Töne. Fast schon ein klein wenig zu holzig. Viele tanine. Dazu kommen schöne cognactöne mit dörrpflaume und anderen Trockenfrüchten. Die Alkoholstärke ist sher gut passend und sehr gut eingebunden

Eine sehr schöne Fruchtbne haben wir hier am Start. Lakritze, Holz und Pflaume geben sich dir Klinke in die Hand. Hab fast den Verdacht dass hier sogar ein wenig Zucker im Spiel ist, da er extrem geschmeidig auf der Zunge liegt. Sehr gut eingebundener Alkohol.

Das ist mal ein, für mich, völlig anderer Guyana wie die die ich bisher hatte. Trockenfrüchte und Malzaromen durchziehen die Nasenflügel, begleitet von kräftiger Würze und gebranntem Zucker. Er hat eine ausgesprochen ölige Textur im Mund, extrem malzig süß, hatte ich so noch nie. Bitterschokolade und kräftige Röstaromen, nicht schlecht sprach der Specht! Der Abgang zeigt sich von seiner dunklen Seite, ist aber leider etwas kurz. Im Ganzen ein leckerer Tropfen, danke Richard fürs Sample. 👍🏻😊

This rum has everything that makes a good Diamond in the under 100 EUR segment. Chocolate, coffee, wood, malt, a little sweetness, a little bitterness. The finish is strong but relatively short, the alcohol is quite well integrated. I'm guessing that MDS is the marque and therefore have to compare the rum with the Diamond 2008 from Spirit of Rum (RX16020). The 1st release (!) from Rumbuddy is certainly a palatable PLV cracker. By the way: I don't like the Diamond SV 2008 from Nobilis (RX18069) tasted at the same time quite as much, it's more on the herbal side.

Viel schwere Süsse voller Melasse und Lakritz, herb-würzigen Noten von Kaffee, Bitterschokolade und röstigem Fasseinfluss. Insgesamt für meinen Geschmack etwas zu sehr auf der würzigen Seite gelandet, dazu sticht - trotz der schweren Süsse - auch der Alkohol noch ein klein wenig durch. Ein guter Rum, dem in meinen Augen leider etwas Raffinesse fehlt.
