This one can play with the 1989 that I also have. Overall another great rum from this destillery. The nose is fruity with vanilla and coffee in the front and caramel, barrel a bit of tar in the back. The palate is complex and well balanced with fruits and spices. There is a wonderful smoky oak feel to it. In the back i get chocolate and nuts. The finish is long and fruity with coffee and smoked oak.

A warm, complex nose, herbaceous and dried herbs, fruity and dried fruits with a hint of roof insulation tar. The palate is more direct, with the same aromas and a hint of tar on the finish. A hint of freshness in the mid-palate contrasts with the dark notes. The taste buds on the front and back of the mouth are excited, but not so much on the sides. The finish picks up all the aromas, then a strong woody bitterness takes over. A touch of wet wool and black powder in the empty glass. A rum that disappointed me on first tasting, but that I find much better when I taste it again. Dry, lively and dark at the same time.

Delicious Damoiseau with a classic profile. Aromatically expressive with wood, spices, the classic dark red fruit notes (cherry) and slight hints of cola. Not the absolute top release from Damoiseau, but very tasty.

Really great! A great rhum agricole that impresses above all with its dark notes. Between roasted aromas reminiscent of cocoa and coffee, but also barrel and (charred) wood, there are occasional aromas of dried fruit and individual fresh notes typical of Agricole. Tastes very good to me, like few Agricole bottlings to date.

Exciting rum. Multilayered, dirty, medicinal, slightly iodine, fruity, molasses. Alcohol very well integrated in the mouth.

Revision of my opinion after blind tasting. The nose is dark, roasted, chocolate, candied citrus. But the alcohol burns the nostrils. On the palate, there's a touch of tar, or else a heavy bitterness from the wood. The alcohol is really pungent for me. The finish leaves me with a not very pleasant aftertaste. Final verdict, I'm raising the score from my discovery (I really disliked it) but it's still a rum I'm not a big fan of.

Strong, spicy. Unusually spicy for a Damoiseau.

A powerful and intense rum, which develops toasted and smoky notes from the first moments, with notes of banana, dried fruits and tobacco in the background. The attack is strong in the mouth, with spicy, spicy and smoky notes, but also the presence of figs, cherry and raisins give a sweetness to this rum with a dark profile. The finish is long and warm on the same frame. A very good vintage combining power and sweetness of aromas with a nice balance throughout the tasting.

WOW 🤩, this is exactly a rum to my taste: heavy, complex, full-bodied and a beautiful depth! The finish is long and dark! This old flavor with fruit and wood harmonize perfectly together!

surprisingly 'Caroni-esque' for an Agricole. On the nose nutmeg, dried fruit, thyme, caramel, and tar. On the palate, lots of smoked barrel, mocha, and rubber. The 66.9% ABV comes across as pretty biting, which also diminishes the finish somewhat. Overall good, but not top either, and a fair bit removed from the outstanding 80 Velier.

Nice spicy and woody nose with dried apricot, even something towards dried date. There is also briefly a slight hint of milk chocolate. I still find sour cherry and something nutty towards chestnuts. A tart sweetness as of maple syrup. Vanilla and nutmeg.Wonderful on the palate. Spicy and almost floral fruity. Clearly the sugar cane, but also cherry and fig. Nutty in the direction of walnut. Caramel I got and vanilla and nutmeg. Totally well integrated alcohol. In the finish the sweet-woody sugar cane. This rum is really great.

8,7:On the nose, the first impression we get is very floral and vegetal, smoky and waxy, as we feel strong presence of sugar cane juice, as thick and dark molasses join a little bit later with black tea, dark berries, perhaps plum, the wood is roasted with roasted nuts, burnt sugar, all nicely caramelized. When aired a bit, dried fruits, banana come out, some spice, as the molasses almost completely overshadows the cane, going even darker with licorice, cocoa, soy sauce, some chocolate, basil and tar. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is very spicy and intense with vegetal, woody and roasted, medicinal notes like black tea, toasted, roasted wood, plastic, wax, leather, some resin, brine and menthol, perhaps camphor. Still round and balanced. After the rest, dried dates are here, tar and quite strong meaty notes with bacon, some BBQ, then nutty and cocoa, molasses are really dark, roasted, as finally let go the darkness with little brown and more fresh, fruity notes as cherry, other dried fruits, coffee and flowers. 8,4:The finish is long, less intense with wood, dry, tar, wax and menthol, a bit spicy, with dark molasses, cocoa, in the end more fresh with dried fruits, banana and vegetal notes. Very, very complex, no alcohol after burn...

The profile resembles that of the 1980, with a very empyreumatic side (leather, smoke, even light tar), caramelized sugar and cherry. It remains one of my favorite rums.

Edit: once rested for a really long time, the result is really good :) This is an intense yet pleasant rum. I find the roasted leather and burnt sugar aromas that I like so much in the Bellevue 1998. In addition, there's a hint of dried fruit like apricot and grape. Not for every palate!
