Beautifully round. The fresh oak is more subtle than the other oaks.

Barrel language N. 04 German Oak vs. N. 01 Basis Rum. The 6 additional months in the new-make oak barrel have darkened the color by 8 levels. So between Amarican Oak and Frech Oak. Nose: very similar to the base. Alcoholic sharpness at the beginning with lime and green apple. Perhaps a little sweeter. In contrast to the first two oaks and the base, a slight smoky or tobacco note comes through here, which becomes increasingly clear. Now that's interesting. 7,2 Palate: more delicate than American and French, less sweet but just as spicy and woody. But here too much closer to the base. Bitter at the start, slightly bacony, some liquorice. Also nutmeg, but less pepper and less fruity. I assume that the denser pores of the slow-growing German oak allow the cask to have a less intensive effect here. Overall, it has little influence. 7,0

Daring Cask Language Project (Cask Strength) It is to be expected that not the best possible rum is used for such a project. The base rum is comparatively fizzy without any particular character. 1st flight: Base rum / all Oaks It's interesting how much the differences are between individual oak types. I was particularly surprised by Mizunara. 2nd flight: base rum / special woods Insanely different, from bad to good, everything was there. Many thanks for this interesting project.

Daring barrel language, 16 times the same basic rum stored in barrels each made of different wood. Very interesting project (thanks to Flo for sharing). Fruitier than No. 2 and 3, sweeter on the palate. But somehow more alcoholic than No. 2 and No. 3.
