Centenario Fundación 25 Años Gran Reserva
"Sweet and simple," as one taster put it — that's the honest read here. Expect honey, caramel, vanilla and roasted coffee up front, with banana, raisin and a woody backbone underneath. Most find it soft, mild and gently sweet, easy to sip. A few pick up an artificial, almost perfumed note, and several say the cheaper Centenario 20 does much the same thing.

How does Centenario Fundación 25 Años Gran Reserva taste?
Aggregated from 138 community reviews.
Soft, sweet coffee-and-caramel solera sipper People generally like it — soft, sweet, coffee-and-caramel Costa Rican solera. The recurring gripe: it tastes sweetened, a touch simple, and many say the 20 is nearly as good.

Now also the 25y times in the glass! Foreground honey / caramel, vanilla and roasted coffee! In addition, banana, raisin and coconut resonates from time to time. In the mouth moderately sweet and mild, continuing the nose. Chocolate and coffee are found more in the finish, making for a delicious and round experience. I don't remember the 30y being this good, which is also significantly sweeter!

A second sample of the Centenario 25 has been bobbing around in my cellar for 1.5 years. Now, on vacation, I "dare" to try it again and have to say that I am even more disappointed than the first time. Very flat on the nose, but then mineral notes on the palate, such as brine, and after about 5 seconds in the mouth it becomes artificial, almost perfumed. Some coffee in the finish, but nothing really interesting that could captivate me in any way. A disappointment for me and a benevolent rating of mediocre.

A rum with great class for special enjoyment. However, the Centenario Fundacion 20 almost flatters more at a much lower price.

Artificial stuff and sugar added for sure.

Better the 20.

This is a medium priced rum and they did pretty well. A very flavourful rum with lots of wooden notes and fruit. Not too sweet, but nicely balanced and medium complexity. Price to quality is very good.
Review by FL_RumRunner
A truly amazing rum at a great price. It’s a very smooth drink with nice sweet and complex notes on the nose. Starting from the top and working towards it with the nose presents the sweeter notes then brings in the more nuanced ones such as the woody scent from the barrels. First sip is a bit strong but after letting it breathe a bit yields a flavor palate that’s a bit smoother and sweeter.

Very nice drop but too sweet for me personally

Sweet and simple. A bit too simple for the price if you ask me.

Sweet but not too sweet. Caramel, fruit and wood. Medium complexity, pleasant on the palate.
Review by Kayla Roy
Not terribly impressive, but a very easy and sweet sipper.
Review by MoMcGurk
One of the five retirement rums from my buddy. A strong oak flavor with just a little bit of the scotch barrel. Much better straight, then mixed.

Okay, aber nicht überragend für den Preis
