Aroma visualization from community tastings
J. Bally Rhum Ambré
Don't let the amber color fool you into expecting something rich and mellow — this is a young, rustic Martinique agricole. Grassy cane juice, pepper, and a floral, herbal streak lead, with dried fruit peeking through. A couple tasters flag a "medically bitter" edge and a short finish, but at 45% it's got real backbone and makes a fresh, lime-forward Ti-Punch.

How does J. Bally Rhum Ambré taste?
Aggregated from 35 community reviews.
Young, grassy agricole for Ti-Punch Well-liked as an everyday agricole and a good Ti-Punch base. Fans enjoy the juicy grassy cane; others find it thin, a touch bitter, and short on the finish.

The more i drink this rhum, the more i like it. The abv makes this rhum not at all watery, both nosing and sipping. On the nose, sweet and fruity, while drinking there is an interesting dirty note (somehow it makes me thinks of worm tubes in Whisky)

Overall an Agricole with very weak taste and the alcohol is quite dominant. Besides that it’s the grassy, herbal and vegetable notes that’s mostly recognizable even if it’s also possible to recognize some fruits, oak and tobacco.

8,1:On the nose, the first impression we get is simple with wood and notes of chocolate. The fermentation notes of the young rum are still present, so we have a round vegetal, tropical and sweet profile. The sugarcane is very juicy, spicy, herbaceous and flowery, dried and yellow fruits make their presence. On aeration, fermented cane juice is all over, round and balanced. The aromas of fermentation have taken on woody accents and a slight patina, leaving the rum perfectly true and rustic. 7,3:On the palate is lightly peppery on the attack, but quickly gives way to an all-pervasive cane juice, herbaceous and flowery. Accents of fermentation and fruit remain fleeting and fade fairly quickly. In turn, we find cane bark, straw, fiber, juice, then earth again. 6,8:The finish is rather dry and slightly spicy, quite short and a bit bitter, it's at this point that the signs of ageing can be seen...

Review by Korkennase🥃
