Nobilis Fernandes No.41 1999
Mint and menthol lead here, wrapped in dry oak, leather and a medicinal, tarry edge that says Trinidad from the first sip. Twenty-four years has traded youthful fruit for roasted, spicy, brown-sugar depth with a "hint of dirt" garage note several tasters loved. Give it air and a big glass. At 65.5% the alcohol is present, and the finish turns very astringent.
The community says- Minty menthol depth
- Roasted woody complexity
- Very astringent finish

Tasted this at The Road Rummers supertasting and gave this a second place. Then tasted it again at Salon Du Rhum and then I knew I had to get me a bottle! This not your typical Trinidad and that's why I think you get mixed reviews. But I like this one alot. It gives you Trinidad with a pleasent caramel sweetness. Lacks a strong nose but the long finish makes up for it. The alcohol is so well integrated that makes this such a nice rum tot drink. Maybe not that complex but I'm sticking to my score.

Tasted @ Salon du Rhum 2024 and at Stijn's place. Every time I taste this TDL Fernandes from Nobilis, I'm fallig in love again. This is exactly what I need from a TDL. Beautiful and super tasty rum. Would love to have a full bottle of this juice. Highly recommended!

Excellent rum. Fantastic taste. High percentage, but still well integrated. Definitely recommend.

Brought as a small sample from the 13th GRF, I'm only now getting around to tasting this beautiful, ripe TDL ... Nose: very interesting and unexpectedly different for a rum from Trinidad. Restrained and yet complex. It smells really old: old cardboard, old tobacco and dried mushrooms. It is also herbal and spicy with dried mint and fennel. The mint gives it a certain freshness. Something different, I like it, 8.9 Palate: ripe and full-bodied, yet smooth. The mint is very intense here, but quickly turns into something bacony and roasted. The sharp mint goes together with the fat sweetness of tonka beans. The finish is salty and woody, almost metallic. The alcohol is present, but doesn't bother me at all. A multi-layered and somewhat different Trinidad, I like it very much. 8.9

This rum needs a good airing before tasting. Quite a fan of tdl, I really liked this profile! The thing that surprised me was the integration of the alcohol, which never takes over the taste. There are far fewer fruity notes than in some younger tdl's, but the ageing process has done a fine job on the toasted/woody/burnt sugar notes, with a nice evolution towards a garage feel. This suits me more than well.

14-04-2025 Rate 8.8 I really enjoys this Nobilis rum. The keep their high standard. Always excited to taste new releases from Nobilis. Have leather and fruits in the nose. With a hint of oak and pepper. Taste again leather and some citrus. With the oak in the background. 04-04-2025 - Rate 8.8 My first Fernandes. And what a rum. Not as good as Nobilis TDL Cactus rum but hope to taste more Fernandes in the future. Notes of rubber and leather.

GRF13: This is a heavy, very intense TDL. While some fruit is still perceptible on the nose, it increasingly disappears, as does the fresh minty note. Instead, a spicy, roasted profile emerges. The alcohol is not perfectly integrated. A good, but not first-class TDL

Review by crazyforgoodbooze
While the nose is still quite restrained and medicinal, alcoholic and rather less inviting, the taste improves with beautiful notes of menthol, tar, dried fruits, citrus fruits and slightly burnt notes. A good representative of the FPH Marks, albeit somewhat unbalanced and very astringent on the finish.
