Romdeluxe Long Pond Distillery Series Rum No. 1 TECC 2023
High-ester Long Pond diehards are the target here. Nail polish, glue, solvent and pineapple hit first, then overripe tropical fruit, young virgin oak and licorice once it breathes. At 85.3% it's astringent and biting, "very much brutal" as one taster put it — yet most agree the alcohol is shockingly well integrated. Give it plenty of air.
The community says- Massive ester funk
- Great ABV integration
- Very astringent

Might be the best Jamaican I've had. It really surprised me. Really good intensity and funk from the high-ester rum, with an impressive balance and complexity from the just 7 month continental aging in a small virgin cask. I had to buy two bottles and can only rate it up the among the best Demerara rums I've had from Velier. Both the nose and the taste is just wonderful. Try it if you can!

02.03.2024 Retasting at Whiskymessen and I stick to my score. ---------------------- #4522 14.12.2023 Went to visit Whisky Watcher in Odense for a very intimate tasting. This one is the bomb. The have hit the mark with the Virgin oak maturing. Very fruity with nice esters and a touch of licorice. The palate is nice and oily with fruits and nice licorice at the end. The finish is very long, dry and warm with stronger licorice notes. Very good ABV integration and beautiful curtains in the glass.

This LP TECC packs quite a punch, but in a positive way. Ester and co. dominate the nose, of course, but subtle fruity notes (citrus/papaya) and a ginger/maggi mix are also perceptible. Top. On the palate, the over 80% cannot be ignored, but it doesn't have to be. After a short bite, a beautiful funkiness develops from esters, sour fruit, young wood and roasted aromas. That fits. The finish is quite long with a slight sweetness. A great bottling and a great start to the new RomdeLuxe series PS: the longer it stays in the glass, the better it gets. So give it a little more time Edit: Tasted again today in Mirco's blind tasting... my rating remains the same

Tried it at HanseSpirit 2024 and it really blew me away. TECC is a real treat for me anyway, just my thing. And if these crazy high %% are so well integrated, then I should take some more time for it. So I took a small sample with me. Nose: very intense, as expected. Ester with lots of fruit and buttery-caramel sweetness, almost toffee. If you give it some time in the glass, pineapple, passion fruit, kiwi and lemon appear. The lemon is somewhat reminiscent of washing-up liquid. The esters change from nail polish to vinegar to umami and there is even a slight smokiness at the very end. The %% is there, but very well integrated. Wow, 8.8 Palate: fierce, but fiercely good. The most intense esters. More is not possible. 1600! Very astringent, very warm and slightly bitter at the beginning. Then come the overripe fruit components of pineapple and kiwi with citrus. Sweetness of pineapple marzipan, also slightly woody at the back. Sure, the high ABV also burns properly, but overall you don't have the feeling of having over 85% in your mouth. That's why it scores 8.7. Crazy and at the same time great that RdL has the courage to bottle something like this (once again). Thanks for that! Addendum: even after brushing your teeth twice and having a coffee in the morning, you still have these esters in your gums, crazy.

Phew, the alcohol is really well integrated for the 85%. Another extraordinary ester monster!

Ein Exot. Volle Breitseite Lack und Ester. Gefällt mir sehr gut.

Wow. This is very much brutal. Starts off intense and chemical with lots of esters (not much fruits though) on the nose. With some time in the glas vanilla and coconut from the cask show up Very strong and adstringent on the palate. Here you can see some influence of the Virgin oak (vanilla, sweetness) and a quite some fruity notes - again after some the to breath. Nice to see bottlings with this high ABV and craziness in the market, yet this doesn’t nearly excite me as much as the RdL HGML Virgin oak bottlings.

Online tasting of various TECA and TECC organized by Mirco. First of all, many thanks for the great split to be able to try them all side by side. Now I had to readjust a few ratings.

Nachverkostung von Mirco’s Long Pond Teca/Tecc Community Tasting. Evtl. Als Beigabe für Cocktails. Freue mich auf die (hoffentlich) tropischen 😉
