The nose is stunning...1a Hampden essence! Verbena pineapple, esters, vanilla, marzipan and cookie dough... wonderful... On the palate, however, disillusionment... initially a heavy sweetness with marzipan and honey and gentle esters with pineapple. This is quickly followed by salty, peppery spices with young wood and a strong bitter note. This continues on the finish... a little longer ageing would probably have done it good

Tasting 16.12 Personally, I wouldn't compare it with the GH series. I find it quite unspectacular. No rough edges. Not very exciting, ergo distinctive, flavor profile. I'm glad I didn't get a bottle of it. At least the alcohol is well integrated

Franconian Tasting Gang Completely undervalued for me. A super rum with its own profile. There's really no need to compare it with the Great House range. Only the price is a little too high. Which in retrospect costs it a point deduction.

Die Nase ist wirklich top. Sehr fruchtig und einige florale/blumige Noten mit dabei, dazu etwas Vanille. Am Gaumen ebenfalls anfangs einige florale/blumige Aromen, die ich etwas untypisch, aber durchaus spannend finde. Dazu tropische Früchte, Vanille und dezent Lakritz und Pfeffer. Für mich zwar kein Ausnahme Hampden, aber eine Abfüllungy die sich durch das Florale/Blumige von den GH-Abfüllungen deutlich unterscheidet. Gefällt mir besser als die meisten GH!

This is about a classic, simple Hampden. On the nose I was hit right away by overripe pineapple and then esters. There is some wood behind that initial rush and hints solvents to go with the usual buttery and vanilla notes. On the palate the esters hit first although they are not wild by Hampden standards. The wood, funk and overripe fruit takes center stage with some spiciness to close it out. Nothing stands out but as a HD fan it was still a good rum.

I'm looking forward to finally trying this particular Hampden. It's apparently an older OWH married to a younger <>H, created to celebrate the wedding of Christelle Harris and Matthew Hann. On the nose, I immediately find tropical fruit, pineapple and especially kiwi, which I haven't experienced from other Hampdens before. On the palate, again kiwi and some leather, quite exciting. The taste profile is recognizably Hampden, but for my taste it differs somewhat from the Great House range. In line with the Marks, not really extreme but rather accessible, but still somewhere unique. This combination of kiwi and leather is something I've never experienced from Hampden before. In the finish, I first find kiwi again, then leather and finally a slight bitterness. My conclusion: Given the relatively small number of bottles, you may not necessarily be missing out on one of the best Hampden, but it is a very good Hampden with a very unique flavor profile. A sample is worthwhile here.

I didn't find it any better than the GHs (I tried gh19-23 at the same time) ... I would rate it at the same level even if it differs slightly in style.

An unusual hampden, very balanced and with few flavor peaks! Considering the reason why this bottle was made I would have expected something different! Let's say this is more of an everyday hampden!

Better than the Great House series, but worse than the Maverick. It has a relatively high level of sweetness. Also marzipan and lots of tropical fruits which come into their own. Alcohol is well integrated. But it doesn't have much depth either.

WL23: generally ok release, but less special than expected. Doesn’t hold much against the GH or other special releases. Probably needed to meet a more general taste for the wedding :-) Yeah, after a second try still not convincing. Not bad, but also not great.

A Hampden tasting, with Great House 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, plus the New Beginnings and both versions of the Pagos. I think the New Beginnings is undervalued compared to the Great House. It's a slightly different profile, less estery and darker on the nose. But still very tasty.

The wedding rum from Hampden sends its regards. Super nose with beautiful esters, fruit, little wood .... - simply Hampden like. On the tongue there is a buttery taste on top of the expected aromas. Good, but not necessarily what I would like to have in my glass every day.

Ein etwas anderer Hampden! Bin etwas hin und hergerissen, weil er doch etwas anders als die bisher verkosteten Hamdens ist. Aber er hat definitiv Potential. Der Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden und insgesamt ist er gut gelungen. Den Preis finde ich aber etwas sehr hoch angesetzt. 🥃

Higher 8 because it’s fun. Kiwi/pineapple comming to something leathery/ glue. Also really nice flow in taste. How the elements are changing. You can spot different steps in the mouth.

One of the most beautiful aroma I have ever smell. This it truly rum created for a wedding. Also taste is very complex and integral. Piece of art. Of course, for those of us, who knows Hampden. Let´s admit it, it is not the most interesting one. However, I have to highlight the fact, this rum was created for everybody (begginers and advanced rum lovers). Great job.

20/06/2025: Road Rummers Jamaican supertasting @ TastToe. In direct comparison to The Maverick, I preferred New Beginnings just a bit more. A got a nice menthol/mint note on the nose which was rather surprising. Nice one to have IF the price is right!

As a moderate Hampden fan, I find this one rather balanced, with the distillery's own characteristics. Ripe fruit, a certain greediness, a nice freshness on the finish. It's not totally out of the ordinary, but it's very well made and rather easy to enjoy, with well-integrated alcohol.

Zvlášť jsem rád za přímé porovnání New Beginnings a Maverick. Obě vydání pro mě skvěle odráží fáze života, ke kterým byla vydána. 🤵♂️👰♂️New Beginnings (svatba) je skvělý výstřel do života, živost a nadšení v nose a zároveň vyrovaný poměr ovoce (přezrálý ananas a banán) a chemie (lak na nehty) jako dva divocí partneři a celkově působí sladší, jako sladké bezstarostné dny, ale kdesi v dálce nás drží při zemi lehká zemitost a bylinkovost. 👶 Maverick (narození dítěte) pořad neztrácí elán, pořád je tam živost ovoce (zejména se dostáva do popředí ananasová šťáva), ale mírnější, i chemie je krotčí, naopak se dostává do popředí jistá "vyzrálost" v podobě dřevitosti a lehké praženosti, hej ovoce a chemie, klid, nejste tu sami!

I have to say from the start that I expected something different. In the aroma, clearly identifiable Hampden. The sweet esteriness is immediately apparent, but the woodiness adds to it. On the palate, that woodiness adds to it (young wood) in a combination that somehow doesn't sit right with me. Instead of a sweet estery finish, I'm left with a weird woody bitterness on the palate. I'm glad I tasted it, but I wouldn't need a bottle at home.

Seriously, this would have been an awesome great house, as it really reminds me in it's quality to the first bottling. Perfectly chosen abv, nice complex aromas. And above all, it is rather drinkable, a nice offering
