Habitation Velier Amrut India Pure Sugar Cane Juice Rum 2022
Adventurous white-rum drinkers and daiquiri makers are the real audience here. The nose gets a lot of love — fresh sugarcane, raspberry, a sweet vegetal, almost agricole lift. Then the palate turns raw and divisive: grassy, oily, hot at 62.8%, with tasters naming cheese, green pepper, even raw onion. One called it a "rugged, dirty sugarcane juice rum with character." Memorable, but not a smooth sipper.
The community says- Lovely sugarcane nose
- Distinct character
- Hot, harsh palate

How does Habitation Velier Amrut India Pure Sugar Cane Juice Rum 2022 taste?
Aggregated from 26 community reviews.
Raw, vegetal cane-juice rum for mixing Great nose, polarizing palate. Fresh sugarcane and raspberry give way to raw, vegetal, hot notes — several find it unbalanced neat but say it makes a better daiquiri.

Smells a lot like sugar cane with a bit of moonshine. Pretty good. Taste surprisingly sweet. Very interesting combination of flavours. Nicely rounded, balanced. On the finish, the sweetness of the cane seems to bridge into the molasses. Definitely a very drinkable and distinctive white rum for me.

What. The. Fuck?! Still smells quite alright of raspberry, sugar cane and clove but then unfortunately tastes really like cheese, sweat and unripe green bell pepper, as well as sake... The alcohol is too present and all in all a bitter disappointment for a Velier bottling! Also almost undrinkable in a daiquiri, unless you like cheese in a daiquiri,...

#4812 10.08.2024 Enjoying some samples at home. Nose Intense, sugarcane, citrus, light vegetal, light mint, light floral. Palate Oily, medium dry, fruits, citrus, light mint, light vegetal, light grass, sugarcane, olive, light salty. Finish Medium to long, light citrus, faint mint, light oily, light floral, light olive. The empty glass has pine and perfume notes.

Road Rummers S8 T4 Velier tasting Crazy reference for white rum. So strong and vegetal. I bet this makes a great mixer. Not for everybody though.

Unfortunately, it doesn't inspire any euphoria in me.

The nose is exquisite initially, one of the best I can recall at first smell, raspberry and sweet vegetal notes, some Agricole elements. Love child of the Spanish style sweet rums and an Agricole, subsides to some farmyard at the back of the nose which hints at what’s to come. The mouth is a different story, unrefined and notes that don’t sit so well, bicycle tyres and cheese with a hot and blustery edge, it’s different and memorable but not a sipper. The finish is fairly short, dirty and more green pepper notes with rough edge. Makes a better daiquiri but even there is a bit lacking

Feels somehow unbalanced, where the smell is better than the taste. Alcohol is not very well integrated. Would expect a better pick from HV on that spectrum. Does very well in a daiquiri though. Gets a slight rubbery note in that cocktail but in a nice way.

21/02/25: Velier tasting @ TastToe. Huge aroma which instantly reminded me of tomato puree. The palate was completely different from the aroma though. Left me with an aftertaste of raw onion. Can't see me casually sipping this, didn't really enjoy it. Could be OK for mixing.
