Precious Liquors Hampden Jamaican Rum (Bottled for the Auld Alliance) LROK 2000
Sip this one neat — it's built for the glass, not cola. A softer, lower-ester Hampden: pineapple, overripe banana and a little glue on the nose, then buttery barrel, caramel and toasted nut on the palate. The 48.6% ABV keeps things gentle, almost too gentle. Several tasters call it an easy sipper that's clearly Hampden but light on the funk and a bit thin.

Mellow, low-ester Hampden with buttery caramel Recognizably Hampden but on the mellow, low-ester side. Most enjoy the tropical fruit and buttery caramel; a few find it thin and lacking punch, one flat-out disappointed.

Tasted by Marta at the Precious Liquors stand at GRF 2024. The typical characteristics of an LROK are clearly recognizable and it delivers what it should. The alcohol is not perceptible, which is probably due to the low ABV, which prevents it from achieving a higher rating. All in all, however, it is highly drinkable.

in the aroma of flambéed bananas with a condom there's a hint of Hampden in the taste, but it's quite clipped
