CDI T.D.L Trinidad 2012
Blind, most tasters wouldn't guess this is a TDL — that's the running theme. The nose is quiet: young wood, burnt sugar, caramel, a metallic edge. The palate does more, with chocolate, dried grape and honey, but nothing really jumps out. Opinion splits on the 63% — some call the alcohol well integrated, others say it stings. A "spanish"-leaning column rum that stays a bit flat.

7,8:On the nose, the first impression we get are roasted wood notes with burnt sugar, caramel, roasted nuts, a bit spicy, there is some vegetal molasses. At first there is almost no fruit, except citrus. We could also notice some metallic note. On aeration, dried and tropical fruits come out, toasted coconut, chocolate and menthol. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is fruity and woody with red, yellow fruits, roasted and spicy wood with sweet honey, candied caramel, then dried fruits and more medicinal notes like rubber and menthol, bitter with molasses. After resting the rum, fruits are tropical with kiwi, banana. There are also nuts, vanilla and burnt sugar, it becomes tasty and it is more round now. 8,1:The finish is long, more industrial like with bitter, dirty notes of rubber, waxes, plastic and tar, a bit mineral, woody with spice, vegetal molasses and tropical and dried fruits..

Sehr alkoholisch, viel Column, etwas wenig Geschmack.

Primär junges Holz, was mich eher an einen "spanischen" Rum erinnert. Dennoch lecker.
