Peat smoke sits right up front here — this is an agricole finished in Kilchoman whisky casks, and the Islay side takes the wheel. Under the smoke there's dark chocolate, oak, red fruit and a minty, dry finish. The cane character fights to stay perceptible and mostly does. Divisive by design: peat lovers grin, others struggle to finish the glass.

Start of with a very fruity. Lots of red fruits. Thick port. No smokiness from the Kilchoman yet. Oak. Lets taste: Ah there it is. A warm fire in the beginning ending in a gentle yet full bodied peat smoke. This is far from the peat that Kilchoman embodies. Bitter and dry flavours. Still heavy on the red fruits. Maybe a tad too much wood...not peat. Interesting project this, but almost never as great as a classic Bourbon or French oak matured rhum. For around 80€ I might have bought this.

Au nez un rhum avec un finish whisky tourbé. En bouche, un whisky avec un finish sur un rhum agricole. Ca ne plaira clairement pas à tout le monde mais si la tourbe est ici dominante, l'agricole sait lui résister et rester perceptible. Etonnant et agréable.

An der Nase zuerst etwas Torf, Klebstoff, eine süße von Bienenwachs, dunkle Schokolade und Holz. Am Gaumen dann noch etwas Minze dazu Florale Noten und Tee. Die Süße von der Nase geht eher etwas in den Hintegrund. Mir wirkt er zu unrund.

Für meinen Geschmack dominieren zu sehr die torfigen Noten durch das whisky-Finish. Dadurch wird der Grundstoff leider überdeckt.

Wow, nasty trap! While the rhum initially evokes associations with the strong Saint James bottling for the 10th anniversary of Excellence Rhum (RX18129), after a few minutes in the glass it can't hide the two peaty whisky casks, so that I have trouble finishing the glass. As a result, my rating curve goes from 83 points on the nose to 80 points after the first two sips to just 70 points on the finish with the last drops. So only 74 points on average. I don't need to have it in my glass again.

Wow, this is definitely on the dark side of whisky strength. A nice balance of wood and peat that brings a dark side, but I'm not completely convinced. Even less so in terms of price.
