HSE Parcellaire #1 Canne d'Or VO 2016
A young Martinique agricole most tasters like but wish had gone a bit further. Grassy sugarcane and fresh herbs lead, then black pepper, toasted oak, a touch of vanilla and caramel, and a dry finish that a couple of members rate as the best part. One reviewer caught a fleeting bubblegum note at the very end. A couple flag the new-oak influence as not quite clean.

- Dry balanced finish
- But: New oak too marked

How does HSE Parcellaire #1 Canne d'Or VO 2016 taste?
Aggregated from 22 community reviews.
Dry, grassy young agricole with toasted oak Well-liked as a dry, honest agricole and good value, though several feel the young oak leaves it a touch unfinished — close, not quite there.

Mhh, simply delicious. Typically grassy, but noble grass 😉 At the very end, there's a brief flash of chewing gum, a crazy twist.

A rum tasted at Rhum Fest in 2024. A rather discreet nose with the classic markers: herbs, citrus, spices and wood. On the palate, an unpleasant, but not overpowering, woodiness and barrel character. Unfortunately, the finish remains marked by this unclear barrel. I don't understand why use an unclean cask and hope that everything will improve with the blending of other casks. The opposite is true: the unclean barrel contaminates everything else. This is not an isolated case among farmers.

An HSE at a crossroads, with both the characteristics of an unaged rum and the influences of aging. The nose is a little shy, releasing its aromas in dribs and drabs, notably sugarcane, grass, spices, toasted wood, nuts and dried fruit. The dry profile of agricultural rums is evident, but with a slight roundness provided by the cask. A rather complete profile, but a little timid. On the palate, the first salvo is planty and herbaceous (cane), followed by spicier (black pepper), toasty and woody. A little more fruit (dried, tropical), but also caramel. Well-structured and quite complete overall. The alcohol is well integrated, but a little more alcoholic intensity would certainly have added a little energy. The finish is superior to the rest, of medium length, dry, warm and balanced between spices (pepper, vanilla), wood and lightly toasted notes. Dried fruit and vegetal cane are behind but not very prominent. The profile is rather promising, still having the terroir of the cane and benefiting from the advantages of ageing, and it would be interesting to see what older profiles can give under the same conditions.

Very fruity, grassy and sweet on the nose. On the palate a more intense sweetness of candied fruit, herbs, some wood. Definitely justifiable as a daily sipper for the price, absolutely a great product.

Molto fine il gusto di questo millesimato
Review by Nicofr
