Tasted this very complex, delicate and elegant rum from the Carrere/Montebello distillery in Guadeloupe at the Sweden (Stockholm) Rumfest 2024. It’s a blend of cane juice and molasses rum distilled in 2001 that’s tropical aged for 20 years in a former bourbon barrel whereafter it has rested in stainless steel vats before bottled in 2023 at 43,8% in just 110 bottles by Excellence Rhum. The nose is delicate and elegant with aromas of spices and exotic fruits. At the palate it’s creamy, woody, fruity and complex with flavors of vanilla, honey, apricot and mango. During the rather long finish the flavors persist together with some vegetal notes.
