"Dark chocolate rum. I love it" is the short version — this is essentially melted Toblerone at 54%. Cocoa, milk chocolate, vanilla and a little orange peel, all wrapped in serious sweetness from the cacao-cask finish. The higher proof keeps it from going full liqueur, but nobody's calling this subtle. Chocolate lovers melt for it; anyone else finds it one-note.

This rum is something special! 12 years in bourbon barrels with a finish in barrels that were filled with cocoa, which is why you get the full flavor of chocolate here. Unfortunately, there is also a little alcoholic spiciness.

Wow der Geruch. Dunkle Schokolade, Schokoladenpudding zu Omas Zeiten. Der Geruch verspricht so viel und dann kommt das erwachen. Im Mund einfach nur stark alkoholisch. Okay, sind halt 54%. Da ist dann im Mund erstmal keine Schokolade mehr. Es brennt nur. Erst im Nachgang kommt dann nochmal Schokolade. Beim zweiten und dritten Schluck etwas besser.

6,8:On the nose, the attack of chocolate is very impressive, it is sweet, alcoholic, not dry. Chocolate lovers can get their heaven in this rum.Tones of sweet cocoa powder all around us. Orange peel, vanilla and spice are overwhelmed by the chocolate. Aeration brings out more creamy chocolate, butterscotch, more bitterness and quite strong metallic notes, even meaty?! 7:On the palate, heavy bodied sweet rum, syrupy, full of chocolate attacks our tasting buds with some nice orange peel as counterbalance.Under the chocolate, we find lots of butterscotch sweetness, caramel, sweet spices, hints of vanilla and some oak. 7:The finish is long, filled with sweet chocolate, a bit bitter and butterscotch, iodine and is a bit citrusy...

This is a very sweet rum, a dessert in itself. This tastes like you melted down a Toblerone bar and added alcohol to the mix. This can only be enjoyed by those with a high tolerance for sweetness. Personally this one is a struggle for me and always has been, even when I enjoyed sweet, dosed rum more. I will give credit for the 54% ABV - I can’t imagine how cloying this would be if bottled at 40% with the same rich sweetness. But don’t be fooled, this one goes down easier and has less heat than any 54% ABV rum I have personally encountered.

Exciting very chocolaty nose.taste disturb the 30g sugar here surprisingly little, is probably the higher alcohol content. Otherwise, the chocolate continues to pull through.The could do very well in cocktails!

Rum for dessert? Why not, actually. Not a typical representative of the "goes well with dark chocolate rums", the rum IS dark chocolate. One immediately thinks of Spiced Rum here and for me it is definitely a fun rum but can be quite tasty if you are in the mood for chocolate rum. The alcohol is relatively well integrated.

Tohle je něco pro milovníky sladkého. Ve vůni hlavně nugát, kakao a vanilka. V chuti hlavně nugát a cukr. Za mě velká škoda, že to není méně slazené. Jinak volty akorát. Na samotné pití to kvůli cukru úplně není, ale jako aperitiv to beru.

It has a heavy aroma of dark chocolate, warm cream and a bit of citrus, and a warm taste of chocolate and cocoa. The taste is distinctive with a mild hint of orange.

I like it. This cocoa bomb tastes delicious on its own and is also versatile in the kitchen. Rumolkugeln are insanely good with him. But also in drinks prima usable. I recently treated myself to a chocolate old fashioned in a bar. Was a totally relaxed drink. A great product👍

An der nase alkoholisch und schokoladig, man merkt auch, dass es süß wird. Am Gaumen definitiv süß, die Schokolade dezenter als gedacht. Denn es kommt auch viel Würze vom Fass. Die 54% tun ihm da wirklich gut!

Dieser ist aber schon grenzwertig süß. Riecht und schmeckt sehr nach Karamell und Zucker. Nicht so schlimm wie A.H. Riise und Don Papa, geht doch leider stark in die Richtung und komplett an meinem Geschmack vorbei.

Chocolate all the way and those 54 abv. can be definitely felt and it is a good thing that it has this kind of strength because otherwise the sweetness would be overpowered. So with this abv it is really nicely balanced. The nose is all chocolate as well as palate with hints of vanilla and lot of spice, mostly black pepper. I have compared it directly with Aurhentico Nativos overproof and I have to say this one is pulling the shorter end. It is nice when on its own but side by side the AN is much better therefore after retasting I am pulling points down. Finish is not very long, more like short-medium.

The nose has lots of hazelnut and dark chocolate. There's also some creamy nougat and an earthy note lingering in the background. A very sweet palate with a massive hit of chocolate, but sweet milk chocolate, not dark like the nose. There's also some vanilla, hazelnut, orange and brown sugar notes. Reminds me of drinking a chocolate orange flavoured hot chocolate. The finish is a touch warming. Just remembering the ABV at this point. Doesn't last too long and keeps to the chocolate theme. A super chocolate forward rum. I think I'd work well in a Mai Tai. To drink neat, it's possibly a bit too sweet, not unpleasant though. Maybe just have the one.

Super Rum für sein Geld! Die Nase bekommt das volle Schokoladenpaket. Einfach ein Easy Sipping Rum für Einsteiger aber auch für Fortgeschrittene. Macht richtig Laune. Espresso Martini wäre auch ne Möglichkeit 😉

Le nez est clairement porté sur le cacao. Cette infusion de fève de cacao directement faite dans le fût a fait son travail ! Cela est très chaud et pâtissier. On retrouve un peu de notes d’agrumes et de vanille mais c’est du cacao à gogo plein le pif ! En bouche, l’alcool est très peu marqué malgré les 54%, c’est très rond et doux. On est à nouveau quasiment que sur le cacao, c’est un rhum très monolithique, celui qui n’aime pas le cacao, qu’il se barre vite ! On retrouve quelques notes d’orange, de vanille et de caramel. Malheureusement, il est trop additivé en sucre.

I don't understand that this elixir can be called a rum (edit: new bottle no longer has "rum" in it), but if I approach it as an elixir, the sweetness is well balanced by the strength of the alcohol, there's nothing in the taste that sticks out, and if I'm craving chocolate, I'll reach for this "rum" instead. As a dessert, it's ideal and certainly one of the better of the dessert liqueurs where I don't have much to complain about. Lots of chocolate and cocoa in both aroma and taste. Cheers :)

Intensely chocolaty flavor of real cocoa. Quite sweet, but fits the product and thus almost the perfect dessert rum. Or conclusion of a tasting. Also found it exciting that such a rum is bottled with such a high alcohol content!
