Plantation Riversaltes Wine Cask 2014
One taster called it "very unique" — musty wine and nuts on the nose, then Barbados spice that turns woody with a bit of sweetness and a slow chest burn. Red fruit, honey, tobacco and young oak run through it. The Riversaltes wine cask is prominent but well tied in. Several found it more drinkable and sweeter than the 8g/l dosage suggests.

How does Plantation Riversaltes Wine Cask 2014 taste?
Aggregated from 20 community reviews.
Wine-cask Barbados, nutty and spiced sipper A solid, unusual Barbados pour where the wine cask leads. Most enjoy it over ice as a slow sipper, though a couple found the nose thin and one wouldn't buy a full bottle.

Review by X-Savior
On The Rocks: On the nose it has a VERY unique aroma of musty, wine and nuts with some mild woody notes. Taste has a strong spice up front as you would expect from a Barbados rum… but it transforms into more woody/oak notes with some initial sweetness and delayed chest burn with the musky notes slowly growing. Finish is long with the mild chest burn continuing with a spice and nut mixtures with woody notes all coming together and goes slightly bitter. This is a very unique rum that I don’t think I have experienced anywhere else. This is not a flavour bomb but is also something neat yet different. This is enjoyable as a sipper over ice as a gentleman’s drink. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose musky Pepsi Zero. Taste is slightly sweet but almost all the complexity is washed away. It would be a waste to drink this mixed.

Erstaunlich süffig. Hätte ich nicht als Rum von Barbados erkannt. Und hätte nicht gedacht, dass er eine Dosage von nur 8g/l hat, wirkt süßer.

Already an interesting cross, coconut, vanilla barbados where the wine influence from the barrel is already very formative. Slightly smoky on the nose too. Alcohol is slightly pungent but still ok. Bottle is not necessary, but ok for tasting.

Das Wein Fass ist schon prominent, aber gut eingebunden.

Sehr dünn an der Nase, leicht Rosine und Gewürz.
