Plantation El Salvador 2015 Red Pineau des Charentes Wine Cask

The red wine cask is the twist here: it layers cherry, prune and dark-fruit sweetness over a light El Salvador base, alongside vanilla, caramel and toasted hazelnut. Members find it very drinkable and rounded, with milk chocolate and a nutty middle. The recurring gripes: it reads quite sweet, the wine finish can dominate, and the alcohol isn't always cleanly tucked in.

Sweet, wine-cask sipper without much depth Most call it an easy, rounded sipper with a decent wine-cask fruitiness — but many find it too sweet, a touch sharp, and short on depth. Pleasant, not spectacular.

A lighter nutty, beautifully drinkable affair.
