Rones del Caribe C.A. Ron Roble Viejo Extra Añejo
Vanilla, oak and a soft caramel sweetness make up most of this Venezuelan column-still rum. Members find it easy and creamy — one likens it to a cup of hot cocoa — but the recurring complaint is that it's thin and a bit bland at 40%. A few note a small spike of heat mid-palate that doesn't quite settle in.

How does Rones del Caribe C.A. Ron Roble Viejo Extra Añejo taste?
Aggregated from 59 community reviews.
Soft, sweet, vanilla-oak everyday sipper Middling scores land it around gentle and pleasant but forgettable. Nice vanilla-oak nose, soft palate — several wish for more ABV and character, and one calls it "all too soft and not" rummy enough.

Review by Stefan Persson
It’s made from cane juice and is a blend of pot still and column still. Easy to drink but too bland. The nose is nice with vanilla aroma. At the palate it has hints of vanilla, marmalade, oak and some spices.

02.10.2016 - 03.10.2016 A great extended weekend with rum friends. This was a nice event and lots of space between the tables. Only problem was the level of English at some of the exhibitors. Here are the rums we tasted at the event itself, nothing truly unique but we had fun. This is the first half of the tastings. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, fruits, light glue, vanilla, faint chocolate. Palate Sweet, wood, light roasted, nutty, dried fruit, orange, light glue, light chocolate, caramel. Finish Medium long, wood, orange, light caramel, sweet, faint smoke.

Like drinking a cup of hot cocoa. Got as a sample in a rum advent calendar. When first opened, got barely any notes. Forgot half the remaining sample for half a year and it has come alive.

Wenig Geschmack und fast nur holzig im Abgang.

Smooth and creamy. Hints of fruit notes underneath a strong sweetness/vanilla flavor. A bump in ABV would do wonders, but overall a very solid rum.

Read full review →For me it's just all too soft and not "rummy" enough. It's just a bit too weak and flowery. It's far from being sickly sweet or hugely confected but its gone further than say Pampero Aniversario or Santa Teresa 1796 down that route to make it far less interesting as...
