Saint James Royal Ambré
People who want an inexpensive agricole for cocktails will get the most out of this young Saint James. Two years in wood gives it a woody, sugarcane-forward profile with apricot, floral and spice notes, plus a hint of glue and a sharp edge. Several tasters call it average neat but a good rum-and-cola or mixing base.

Aggregated from 31 community reviews.
Young, woody agricole best in cocktails Opinions land mostly mid-pack: pleasant cane and oak with real Martinique character, but the alcohol reads sharp and one-note neat. Most find it happiest in a cocktail.

It smells fruity, the sugar cane is still well represented but already somewhat tamed by the wood. Accordingly, the wood component is also present in the aroma, plus some glue, slightly spicy. Also in the taste, the sweetness and the wood component is again represented, the finish is somewhat sharp.

Well, a rather below-average Saint James. The nose is predominantly woody and alcoholic, but glue can also be detected. The palate is also predominantly woody and alcoholic, but fruity notes can also be detected. Really not good.

7,6:On the nose, we can find typical Martinique agricole, with apricot, raspberries notes, volcanique identity is strong. It is very fresh, notes of sugar cane are omnipresent, freshly mowned grass is very pleasant, flowers like geranium smell nice, certainly there is wood and spices like pepper, even some of them are sweet-vanilla...lastly dried fruits. 7,7:On the palate freshness is continuous, it is pretty smooth, notes of spices arise, like cinnamon, vanilla. Raspberries and apricots are zesty.Sugar cane is very juicy and syrupy. Volcanique notes are unmistakable from Martinique, strong. 7,4:The finish is long and soft, fruity, volcanique, syrupy and quite dry..

À utiliser dans les cocktails principalement. Dans ce contexte, il fait bien le boulot avec ces notes boisées et agricoles.

This was my first real rum mixology where the master did some pretty good drinks. Please be aware that the score is based on the final result and not for the "raw rum" in a clea tasting, which would be pretty different! Rum'n'coke 4 cl Saint James Cola to your liking Fresh lemon juice This was a pretty good rum and cola and the lemon juice did it really well.

the 40% version is even worse, too bad...
Review by Stefan Persson
Bought and tasted this rhum in Nerja, Spain. It’s a blend aged between 18 and 24 months. Overall much better than expected for such a young rum and to a very affordable price. Very good value for money! The nose is round and rather elegant with floral, woody, spicy and nutty notes. At the palate it’s full bodied, round, flowery, woody, spicy and dry with flavors of oak, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and nuts. The finish is rather long for such a young rum.
