Clément L'Initial Brut de Colonne
"How well can 71.4% actually be integrated?" is the surprise here — one taster's answer was, better than you'd expect. It drinks green and earthy with fresh sugarcane, lemon and orange, a mineral edge and only a mild burn. A few months in vat gave it a faint tint. Intensely agricole, but rounder and softer than the ABV suggests.

#5160 20.03.2025 Running some samples at home. Nose Intense, fresh, citrus, light herbal, sugarcane, spice, faint smoke. Palate Intense, fresh, citrus, light mineral, light grass, Agricole, fruity, spice. Finish Long and warm, light oily, balanced, faint mineral, light grass, Agricole, citrus, light floral. Empty glass Light floral, citrus, sugarcane, light honey. Needs to rest for a while to really open up properly. Price to quality is very good and this is a rum for the more advanced rum lovers.

Wow, another great piece. How well can 71.4% actually be integrated? Here's the answer ;-) The nose is certainly herbal, sugar cane is also recognizable. As usual, the palate is also very herbal, green and earthy...

A good bdc that has the particularity of having spent a few months in "old-fashioned" lightning, so slightly tinted. You can smell the 71.4 but without any burning or toasting (like the bdc longueteau for example). Nose: round, good sweetness, cane but rather closed. Taste: citrus fruits like lemon and orange, fairly fat, herbaceous but hardly disturbing (I don't usually like it). Average length. A good and distinctive bdc, which goes down smoothly.
