Papa Rouyo Vibrasyon ESB Ex-Cognac (LMDW) 2023
Only six months in ex-cognac casks, yet tasters keep calling it complex. Expect fresh sugarcane, bright lime and a buttery texture (a few compare it to Neisson's organic bottlings), with vegetal touches of beetroot and rhubarb and light young oak with vanilla. The nose can be a "brutale Zuckerbombe" of cane and cotton candy; the palate turns drier and more alcoholic, with a couple of members feeling the short cask left it caught in between.

Der kurze Kontakt mit dem Holzfass hat diesem Papa Rouyo sichtlich gut getan, ohne seine Ursprünglichkeit zu übertönen. Die zum Teil gemüsig anmutende Fruchtigkeit mit Noten von Rhabarber und Roter Bete hat sich dabei etwas aus dem Destillat abgebaut, wohingegen eine angenehme Buttrigkeit sowie ein wenig mildes Holz mit sanfter Vanille hinzugekommen sind.

Für mich verwirrende Aromen aus Zuckerrohr, Süsse, Litschi. Trifft so gar nicht mein Geschmscksprofil. Gebe Noten immer nach meinem Empfinden und so wird es knapp eine 7,1 da er handwerklich sicher gut gemacht ist.

Notes from Whisky Live Paris 2024 - to be reviewed and expanded upon. I love cognac casks, so my opinion is not impartial. Nevertheless, I found it much fresher and more lemony than the average at the meeting. A great success, I'll be able to buy it.

Good length and very present lemon. Very buttery, reminiscent of the Neisson profil bio. Very complex for only six months in barrel. A superb success.

Trifft nicht wirklich meinen Geschmack, irgendwie durch das 6 monatige Cognac Finish nichts halbes und nichts ganzes. Schön ihn endlich mal probiert zu haben, mehr aber auch nicht. Danke an Boletus für die Teilung

Jung und spannend! In der Nase eine brutale Zuckerbombe, die Assoziation von Zuckerrohr, aber auch Zuckerwatte und Sirup weckt. Dazu eine angenehme Fruchtigkeit, die wirklich Lust auf mehr Macht und auch das Cognac-Fass klopft schon mal kurz an. Am Gaumen dann etwas anders: deutlich weniger süß, alkoholisch und auch eine gewisse junge Holzigkeit, bei der ich mir einbilde, das Cognac-Fass zu schmecken. Leider deutlich schwacher als die Nase. Insgesamt trotzdem eine spannende Abfüllung, bei der mich vor allem die Limettennote fasziniert.

Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Durch die Lagerung ist deutlich weniger Frucht vorhanden. Geschmacklich etwas Vanille aus dem Fass, Salz, Olive, Marzipan.
