Aroma visualization from community tastings
CoR South Pacific Fiji 2001
The nose promises more than the palate keeps: burnt rubber, overripe tropical fruit, glue and a floral, medicinal lift that fans of Fiji esters know well. Then the taste turns light and dry — several tasters wished for higher strength, calling the finish short and faint. At 47.3% and 21 years, it reads more like an aromatic explorer's Fiji than a heavyweight one.

How does CoR South Pacific Fiji 2001 taste?
Aggregated from 63 community reviews.
Great ester nose, light dry palate Loved on the nose for its ester funk and medicinal fruit, but plenty of tasters find the palate too diluted, dry and short-finishing for a 21-year 2001 Fiji.

That was very nice suprise for my palate and I didn’t expect such flavors form Fiji. I’m happy that I bought a bottle after recommendation and before trying it :)!

Even if it has been diluted a little too much for my taste, it is very intense on the palate with great Fiji ester notes and Rockley honey notes.

It has all the characteristics of the extremely intense 2001 vintage, but thanks to the comparatively low strength, the rum is not overpowering, but rather invites you to discover the aromas. Due to the significantly lower strength, there is of course a lack of intensity here and there, but the rum does not appear really thin. Not enough for the absolute top class from 2001, but in my eyes the rum is nowhere near as clearly inferior as the current overall rating suggests - but of course the same applies here: De gustibus non est disputandum.

With this bottling from colors, I'll probably never forget the information that the distillery's coca cola. The sticky aroma full of overripe fruit sparked my love for fiji. The flavor could stand a higher abv, however, this is my favorite piece
Review by TheRhumhoe
A rum with potential on paper, the nose offers a nice mix of floral and medicinal notes on phenols and fermentation, a more empyreumatic side on rubber and fruity aromas on tropical fruit marmalade. The profile is rather attractive and well-constructed, with some spicy, woody notes in the background. On the palate, the rum loses some of its superb character. The rum is light, lacking intensity and impact, not least because of the relatively low degree. The exotic fruits are still present, with a little vanilla and caramel sweetness, spices and medicinal, rubbery notes. There's some butter on the palate, too. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is very subdued, with the same medicinal, sweet, buttery, fruity and slightly spicy profile. A few aromatic herbs graft themselves briefly before escaping like the rest of the aromas. A pleasant rum in aromatic terms, but lacking the length to compete with other bottlings from the same Millesime.

Well, the nose was quite promising... Nice medicinal, leathery notes combined with a bit of fruits. But then the taste came and to be honest, it's not that there is something wrong with this rum. It would just need to have a lot less water inside in my opinion. It's quite light and flat flavour wise.

A rum tasted at the WLP. A lovely, warm nose of overripe tropical fruit, herbs and varnished wood. The palate is a little disappointing, too dry and not very aromatic. With more fruit. The finish is very short and ends on astringent wood. A far cry from the promise of the nose.

Nose: burnt rubber tire at its best. A little thin and watery on the palate, not sure if this is really cask strength? Otherwise quite balanced and sweetish after rubber, caramel, citrus fruits and banana.
