N. Kröger Foursquare Wagemut Special Edition 2023
One taster called this "kaum als Barbados zu erkennen" — the maple syrup cask takes over. Expect thick maple, a distinct walnut note, brown sugar and a touch of wood and spice, with a warm, slightly hot middle. Several people flag it as too sweet for them, but the nuttiness and dry-ish finish keep it from tipping into candy. A 17-year Foursquare you'd barely pick as Foursquare.

How does N. Kröger Foursquare Wagemut Special Edition 2023 taste?
Aggregated from 25 community reviews.
Maple-cask Foursquare, nutty and quite sweet Loved for its unusual maple-and-walnut character, though most tasters agree it runs sweet and a bit hot. The syrup cask defines it — you'll either enjoy the direction or find it heavy-handed.

... Kräftiger Ahornsirup-Eindruck, teils Liebstöckl, teils Sellerie

Really exciting! I think it's very successful. I particularly like the distinct walnut note, which is quite unique! It's perhaps a little too sweet for me. But with the somewhat bitter and nutty finish, it could do with it. The base should probably be a WIRD. Definitely not Foursquare. If the base had been a bit better, the finish would have been even better...

Wow, this one really stands out from the last bottlings. Hardly recognizable as Barbados (Foursquare)... spicy and almost notes as found in Guyana are clearly present. Complex also in the mouth sweet, smoky... Chocolate and some fruit .... WOW . I like this direction 👍

You can notice the impact of the maple syrup cask already in the nose. I like this nutty/walnut note, in the nose and on the palate! The finish is middle long dry and sweet. The alcohol is integrated very well and gives this rum more complexity. All in all it’s a wonderfull rum, but too sweet for me.

#4298 14.10.2023 sitting at home raxing after a tough training yesterday and a trip across the border for our monthly shopping today. This one has to rest for a while because it's a bit rough in the beginning. Once rested it has a nive and fruity nose with nice wood and spices. The palate is nicely balanced and also fruity. The finish is medium to long and has a nice light caramel note. Draws nice curtains in the glass. In the empty glass there is a faint coconut and chocolate note.

Die Abfüllung ist schon sehr speziell. Vom Foursquare Rum merkt man gar nichts. Muss man halt mögen.
