LVMH Cuba Ron S.A. Eminente Gran Reserva Edition No. 1 2013
Cuban-rum drinkers who want a bit more punch than the usual soft island sipper will click with this one. Coffee, dry oak, honey and dried fruit sit on an aguardiente kick that prickles the tongue — several tasters call it their favorite with a cigar. Some love the wood and floral side; others find it a touch too sweet or a little thin.

How does LVMH Cuba Ron S.A. Eminente Gran Reserva Edition No. 1 2013 taste?
Aggregated from 79 community reviews.
Coffee, oak and honey Cuban sipper Well-liked as a rounded, coffee-and-oak Cuban sipper, more intense than the 7-year. A few find it too sweet, thin, or wood-heavy, and note the aguardiente character stays loud.

Really tasty Cuban. Very round, nice sweetness, balanced profile with tobacco, oak, dried fruit, sweet coffee notes...a harmonious aroma spectrum without extremes makes for relaxed drinking at a great level. Great rum in a moderate price range.

I find the nose very restrained, with delicate aromas of wood and honey. It is soft and light on the palate. The dilution is a little too strong for my taste. Notes of wood, coffee and spice dominate. It lacks complexity... I find it too one-dimensional.
Review by Schnapsschuesse
There’s clearly a lot more going on here than in the 7-year-old. More coffee, wood, vanilla, and roasting. At least the nose benefits a lot from the three years. The silkiness on the palate is missing here, but it’s much more engaging. A very pronounced wood note forms the base, with mocha and dry vanilla taking the lead. A nicely rounded thing, with just a slight drift into very dry wood in the finish.

A fruity nose of yellow fruit, carambola and dried fruit, marked by wood but without excess, dried fruit with a herbaceous/floral edge. The palate is on cigar box (cedar), with dried fruit and yellow fruit in the background, but also wood and a very pleasant floral side. The finish is rather short, but cigar-box and floral aromas linger for quite a long time. A fine rum, pleasant to drink, and well above anything I've tasted before from Eminente. I particularly like its floral side.

Round, balanced and simply delicious. A real surprise that shows the strong potential of Cuban rums as complex sippers.

Elegant, full-bodied and not uninteresting new Cuban. Overall, I think I personally like the 7 better in terms of PLV and mixability, as there is a little too much wood, tobacco and too much cognac influence in terms of taste. The aguardiente component, which you can definitely smell and also taste discreetly, is also exciting... But PLV is debatable here... Thanks to Torben for the sample!

Pub LiQ Bar Düsseldorf March 2025. Next up, an Eminente. It's very woody on the nose, but coffee is also easy to recognize. On the palate, the coffee then predominates for me, and wood and honey are also recognizable.

Tasted during the RumX Eminente tasting. Appealing good Cuban rum. Much more expressive compared to the few other Cubans I know.
Review by LukaŽiga
9:On the nose this rum is intense, elegant and complex and round - the initial aroma of freshly roasted coffee, red fruits, and flowers gives way to a touch of honey and vanilla with a nice almost minty freshness. 9:On the palate, it is well-balanced, unctuous and deep with a fruity profile, driven by dried apricot and orange blossom with notes of sandalwood, hazelnut, and allspice. 8,8:The finish is silky, persistent, and sweet with the spicy character of Sichuan pepper, caramel, pine sap and saffron. Highly recommend this wonderful stuff. So young, so smooth and so silky-shortly:A superb summery sipper..

A little more robust than its little brother. The presence of aguardiente can be felt in greater quantities than in the other bottle in the range. Honeyed without excess. Frankly woody. Not bad at all.
Review by Agricoler
This is significantly better than its young jollege, the Reserva. Very smooth from nose to finish, lots of caramel and coffee but also slightly herbal notes. Overall, a very uncomplicated rum in which the 43.5% are quite well integrated.

RX Eminente tasting on 20.12. The Ambar Claro pleases as an easy sipper, the 7-year-old Reserva scores with wood and spices, the Gran Reserva No.1 is even more intense and multi-faceted. It is also my favorite with the cigar...

The third one of the Eminente Tasting. I am a bit disappointed, expecting more maturity from this compared to it's younger versions. The Aguardiente still comes strong, and I found it a bit domineering for a rum mainly supposed to be a sipper... The intensity of the Aguardiente mutes other notes, it still prickles on the tongue. Of course it gives the Cuban DNA more intensity, fruit and power, but that's maybe better for Cocktails than for a drink to be sipped in the evening - at least for me. Otherwise it is a good rum, definitely better than lots of readily available Spanish Rums in the "Premium" Segment.

Very round and sweet. Balanced sipper.

I'd found the 7-year-old version nice at a tasting, but it hadn't entered my purchasing priorities. In the end, I blind-bought the 10yo, hoping to find more complexity and depth (+ aguardiente + ageing + alcohol). It didn't disappoint and holds its place as the only ron in my bar. It can easily be served at the end of a meal.

Finally got around to try the Eminente taste set! The oldest of 3, and it has a fuller expression. Heavy on coffee, dark chocolate and wood in the nose, and I got taste-notes of dried fruits, chocolate, and hints of licorice

I actually really prefer the 7 year over this one. I know there’s added sugar in both (about 35g/l for this expression and presumably about same for the 7) but somehow it’s just way more noticeable in this one. For that cuban image of sipping on a rum all day while smoking and playing dominoes this one is a tad too sweet to last the distance for that. That’s a shame because my rons need to be both light and dry for me to enjoy them because I actually do use them in that longevity way that their tradition intends.

Consistent continuation of the Amber Claro, in which everything is a little more intense. The slightly higher 43.5% naturally helps the taste, and the cask leads to more intense dark and spicy aromas. I stick with the 7.6 rating for the second tasting as well.
