Romero & Sons FRC Ecuador (Kirsch Whisky) 1973

Sipped neat, this 50-year-old Ecuadorian reads far younger than its age suggests: light wood, dried fruit, a little dark chocolate and caramel, with the 56.1% alcohol pushing through hot. Most tasters found it too sweet and too flat for the pedigree, though one picked out prunes and cherry in the empty glass. Interesting on paper, underwhelming in the glass.

Phew, I really expected more. Regardless of the data of the rum, which sound interesting at first, quite "sober" considered: Alcoholic, flat, column style, a little more flavor compared to the others, chocolate, some barrel.

The next FRC. Again a little too sweet, but not as bad as the previous one. Again vanilla, caramel and dark chocolate on the nose and palate. Also quite spicy and slightly alcoholic on the palate.

Sugar, musty wood, herbs - unfortunately not much fun.

#5006 29.12.2024 Relaxing with an older sample I had on the shelf. Nose Light wood, light roasted, dried fruit, faint nutts, faint floral, spice, light caramel. Palate Light, light wood, dried fruit, spice, lightly sweet, faint chocolate, light nutts, medium spicy, faint floral, light caramel. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light chocolate, light caramel, light nutts. The empty glass has light prunes, light cherry and a faint earthy note.
