TRC Enmore Guyana Single Cask Rum REV REV 1994

A slow neat sipper, best given time in the glass to open up. Expect dried plum, dark chocolate, leather, tobacco and burnt cask, with a long, slightly bitter finish. Several tasters catch fresh blackcurrant lifting the dark, malty core. Most agree this REV sits near the top of the 1994 vintage — though a few feel the wood is pushing past its peak.

Deep, woody old Enmore with prune and leather One of the best-loved 1994 REVs here. Rich prune, chocolate, leather and spice with well-integrated alcohol. The catch: heavy wood and a bitter edge some find just past its prime.

Fans of old, woody Demerara and dark REV profiles

Edit compared to the 27 year old he unfortunately loses nuances but still a hammer rum Once again an absolutely more than successful bottling from TheRumCask. I am enthusiastic about one of the best REVs from 94. For the price, I think the performance delivered here is completely justified.

Top Rev, I like it very much. Compared to its predecessor, I was worried that we were going too much into bitterness. This concern was unfounded and it turned out to be another sensational bottling with typical REV notes.

Very nice bottling again. However, I feel like we have surpassed the peak for the 94 REV vintage, looking at the latest releases. While this one is a good pick from TRC, it is very wood/leather/dark notes forwards missing out on the dried fruits which put some of the prior bottlings at the very top for me. That said: I‘d drink this one happily every day. :)

Great REV. Lots of spicy herbal notes. Dark chocolate and dried fruit (plum , currants). Some leather and burnt barrel . Oily heavy texture on the palate. Needs some time to open up but then quite tasty .

"Blue hour" reinterpreted for a change: in a daring blind crosstasting with the now considered Unicorn REV 1994 from Wild Parrot (RX7680). Well, one glass content was more appealing on the nose and palate, deeper and more intense than the other, but both incredibly attractive, dark and malty. And when I looked under the glass after pre-labeling, the more appealing rum was the legendary WP. But - and now some may be disappointed or surprised - I perceived the differences to be minimal, the rums were hard to tell apart, especially olfactorily. Ultimately, only the longer, roastier finish of the WP tipped the scales to give it 1 point more than the TRC. One can see this assessment but also very positive: Both rums are absolute top class and the new TRC turns out to be a real stroke of luck, can play for me among the 94 REVs at the top. Congratulations! Update 2023-10-14 (Day after initial tasting): SAKRILEG! But it really is an empirical fact that the TRC keeps the great typical REV smell significantly longer and more intense in the emptied glass than the WP. And that is clearly worth me an upgrade of 1 point, so that now between the two compared REVs 1994 TRC and WP is equal - who would have thought that before! (There I was probably a bit hasty with my rating yesterday and should have done it like @Kevin - always also smell the emptied glass!) Blind Crosstasting definitely recommended to imitate, am curious about the impressions of others. 😉

Enmore gave the world the last wooden Coffey still, built here around 1880 and still running at Diamond. It is also one of only two Guyanese estates where you can actually buy rum distilled while the place was open: 17 vintages between 1962 and its closure in April 1994. On most Demerara pages that sentence is not true.
