Rest & Be Thankful Clarendon Pure Single Jamaican Rum MBK 1998
Almond and marzipan lead, backed by orchard fruit (apple, pear), citrus, light anise and young oak. This is Clarendon's MBK mark — the lowest-ester end of the range — so it drinks light and fresh for 23 years, more delicate than a funk bomb. Several tasters found the nose fine but a touch quiet, while the palate opens spicy with cardamom, licorice and honeyed sweetness.

Leicht sehr fruchtige Nase mit süßen gelben Früchten aber auch Zitrusnoten. Der Rum wirkt noch immer frisch und jugendlich obwohl 23 Jahre alt! Am Gaumen zuerst spritzig und scharf, aber nach 1-2 Sekunden kommen die Würze und Aromen. Zum Nachklang hin trocken und würzig. Wenn man sich Zeit für ihn nimmt, bietet er einiges zu entdecken - kann von der Intensität her natürlich nicht mit anderen brachialen highester Jamaikanern mithalten, aber hier findet man einen sehr feinen und aromatischen Rum.

Tasted during the RumX masterclass. Huge thanks the guys from R&BT for presenting their range! Very nice exploration of some low(we) ester marks. While some of the noses were a little light, the long aged expressions are very interesting on the palate across the board. Very interesting! :) I‘m pleasantly surprise. Despite the low ester content and short fermentation, there are a lot of flavors present on the nose and palate. Interesting profile.

Tasting mit Rest & Be Thankful am 07.02.2024: Sehr geschmackvoller low Ester Rum mit sehr fruchtigen Noten. In der Nase und im Abgang waren die Eindrücke aber nicht so intensiv wie erwartet. Insgesamt aber dennoch ein sehr feiner Rum.

Knackige frische Tropenfrüchte, angenehme Restsüsse, etwas herbe Anklänge von Holz und dezentem nussigen Marzipan. Würziger Abgang mit saftigen Fruchtestern. Intensiv und angenehm komplex. Ansprechend, vielschichtig, auch wenn das gewisse Etwas fehlt, das für die absolute Spitzenklasse erforderlich wäre.

Teil des Rest & Be Thankful tastings (danke an RumX und F.L.O. fürs Teilen). Schöne und interessante Veranstaltung. Alle Kanditaten hatten eine sehr schöne Nase. Am besten haben mir das LSO und MPG Profil zugesagt. Insgesamt fehlte mir aber oft die tropische Reifung. Hier in der Nase über Gaumen bis zum Abgang mit einer schönen Mandelnote.

Rest & Be Thankful Tasting 7. Februar Unfassbar gute Nase, riecht wie ein Mai Tai, schöne Mandelnote mit etwas Frucht und Muskat. Im Mund vor allem getrocknete Früchte gepaart mit einer spannenden Anis Note.

Nach dem RumX R&BT Tasting am 7.2. den Rest nochmal mit mehr Ruhe verkostet: Als zweiter Rum eine 23jährige Monymusk Abfüllung exklusiv für Deutschland (Kirsch). Das Marque MBK ist der Einstieg am ganz unteren Ende. Dennoch durchaus spannend. Am Gaumen Kumquat Zitronengras, Piment, Zimt, Vanille. Am Gaumen Zitrusfrüchte, Fass.

Rest&Be Thankful Tasting: nette Abwechslung zum Assemblage. Eher würzig. Für mich eher Haselnüsse als Mandeln an der Nase. Dazu deutlicher Fass Einfluss, Vanille und Kakaohaltige Schokolade. To be continued.

RumX/Kirsch-Online-Tasting Rest&Be Thankful! 23 Jahre alt und mit knapp über 60 gr/hlpa Ester wirklich sehr low. Ein light pot. Nase: sehr leicht und fein aromatisch, fast etwas grasig-frisch, Zitrusfrüchte und Honigsüße vorne, dahinter unreife Stachelbeere und etwas holzig. Etwas unspektakulär aber nett. 7,8 Gaumen: deutlich intensiver als die Nase. Süß-würzig. Viel Anis, Süßholz und Lakritze. Hinter der Süße säuerlich-pfefferig in dann wieder lakritzig und angenehm salzig-speckig zu werden. Sehr interessant. 8,4

#4600 07.02.2024 online tasting with Rest & Be Thankful. Nose Faint roasted wood notes, fruit, light, floral. Palate Faint wood, oily, fruit, light anise, naturally sweet. Finish Light wood, faint roasted, citrus. The empty glass has some chocolate and vanilla notes. Beautiful slow moving curtains in the glass.

Mastertasting von Rest & Be Thankful über RumX Ein feiner Monymusk. Die Nase ist herrlich Fruchtig und lässt kaum andere Aromen durch. Am Gaumen ist er cremig weich mit Bienenwabensüsse und viel Frucht, im Laufe entwickeln sich Aromen von Kardamon und jungem Holz. Diese Aromen begleiten auch den Abgang, zusätzlich mit Lakritz und Piment. Ein sehr guter MM

Da ich beim Tasting leider, dank der Deutschen Bahn nicht dabei sein konnte, hole ich das jetzt mal in Ruhe nach. Vom ersten Eindruck ist er meines Erachtens schon ein bißchen besser als der RX16272 den ich vorher im Glas hatte. Aber ich frage mich wo der Preis herkommt.

Almonds and bright stone fruits. Apples & pears. Cinnamon on the nose. Young Wood & spices join on the pallate. Great selection by Kirsch for Germany. Short finish unfortunately. Feels much younger than 24 years. //update: same verdict, solid low-ester rum

Leider nur ein mittelguter Rum, denn die ausgewogene Nase geht noch in Ordnung, aber im Mund fehlt die Intensität und es fällt mir schwer, Profile zu identifizieren. Der würzige Abgang erstreckt sich nicht allzulange.

In der Nase recht sauber und 'trocken teerig', Frucht in der zweiten Reihe. Öffnet sich mit etwas Luft, wird dabei aber auch überraschend fragil bis flach. Mandel, Vanille, junges Holz und etwas Zitrus kommen durch. Viel Wumms für die 55%, aber haarscharf an alkoholisch vorbei. Ein Hauch Obstler & Grappa, sehr fruchtig in seiner 'Rohheit'.

Ein gut gereifter Jamaika-Rum mit sehr geringem Estergehalt, der sich dennoch mit ansprechender Fruchtigkeit und einigen netten Gewürz- und Holzaromen präsentiert. Reißt zwar keine Bäume aus, ist aber definitiv lecker und lässt sich sehr entspannt trinken.

Nachverkostumg der drei Clarendon Low Ester Abfüllungen aus dem Rest & Be Thankful Tasting. Dieser ist der mit dem geringsten Ester Anteil und bringt doch schöne Noten von Apfel, Birne, Bratapfel, Vanille und gelbe Früchte mit Holz und Backgewürz und Mandeln.

Es sind Fünf verschiedene Clarendon monymusk abgefüllt von Rest&Be thankful im überwiegend Low Ester Bereich im Vergleich. Danke an Thunderbird für das überlassen der Sample Reste aus diesem RumX Tasting. Der Sieger bei mir RX18817-->Mark MMW und mit Estern von 224,2 gr/hlpa der höchste Wert liegt bei mir in Front dahinter wird es etwas dann relativ eng. Dieser hier mit niedrigsten Estergehalt ist ein easy sipper bringt ordentlich Orange und ist vorwiegend trocken. Schöner Einstieg in dieses Tasting. Relativ leicht und Recht süffig.

Sehr weich in der Nase, frisch und fruchtig (grünes Kernobst), Zitrusnoten. Am Gaumen eine ordentliche Alkoholnote, die fast ein bisschen unangenehm brennt. Noten von Mandel, Zimt, Cardamom, Apfel und Aprikose. Guter Monymusk aber meines Erachtens nicht optimal ausgewogen.
