Whisky Spring 2024, trade fair tasting
Review by Rare Akuma
Tasted this in direct comparison to Cadenhead’s 17y Monymusk at 52.6%. Immediately opens with waves of currants, honeyed ginger and strawy mint. It smells dry and grassy, but with a subtle floral undertone. On the palate it interestingly punches above its ABV. Lightly petrol-washed and intensely herbal and minty. More currants, dried fruits and honeyed nuts. Quite the interesting show of power here, ending in a lasting finish with more gas station, mint, herbs and currants. It’s linear, but can definitely flex its biceps and show power. I like this one more than its 2003 52.6% cousin, unfortunately I think the Green Label is still priced too aggressively.
