Cane Rum Bottling Company South Pacific Single Cask Rum 2002
Petrol, wood and a dirty, astringent edge define this 21-year-old Fiji from South Pacific — one taster called it a "Dirty & Adstringent Fiji." Underneath sit fruit, light coconut, faint varnish and a peppery, spicy finish. Bottled at 61%, it's intense and a bit unbalanced, and reviewers agree it needs a long rest in the glass to settle and open up.

How does Cane Rum Bottling Company South Pacific Single Cask Rum 2002 taste?
Aggregated from 22 community reviews.
Intense, astringent Fiji with petrol and wood Well-liked but polarizing: an intense, woody, petrol-laced Fiji that leans astringent and slightly unbalanced. Even some Fiji skeptics found the profile genuinely enjoyable once acclimated.

Very different (wood flavor? 🤔) at first but once you get used to the flavors, it's really nice.

Typischer Fiji, eher auf der adstringierenden Seite.

Overall a very interesting rum. Hadn’t expected something like this from Fiji. Tasted this at a special tasting at Rum Cane Society (CRS) in Stockholm, which is the rum bar in Europe with most different rum bottlings. The Cane Bottling Co. is a Swedish IB founded and owned by Lars Renbjer and Niklas Blomquist, the latter co-owner of CRS. The rum is a 21yo Pot Still blended with some column still from the South Pacific Distillery in Fiji. It’s tropical aged for 7 years on former bourbon casks and thereafter continental aged for 14 years more.

Interesting proximity to the (almost legendary) 2001 profile, but the taste experience on the palate tends to be very spicy and tart. Intense, complex, unfortunately without the final balance.

Kryddig o söt smak, lite kort på slutet
