Overripe mango, toffee and a little glue meet roasted coconut and oaky tannin in this 16-year Long Pond from Hunter Laing. Tasters find vanilla, caramel and dark chocolate under the esters, with a fruity sweetness up front. At 67% it runs hot, and most agree the last bit of complexity isn't there — good, but not a wow.

Still a bit beastly.

Sweet basic structure, but not without force. Vanilla and wood, which enter into a pleasant interplay with the fruit flavors. The final complexity is missing, but it remains an alcoholic-intense, but still good drinkable rum.

Could be an ITP or VRW... Light ester and glue notes meet slightly overripe and fermented mango, toasted coconut chips, sour bitter cocoa nibs and some green pepper and toffee with medium oak tannins. Overall also quite alcoholic but still drinkable. Not bad but not a highlight either.
